Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-3-2019: Saint David’s Day

1st March, 2019.

Yes: it’s official … I’m mildly nervous.

And not about getting accosted by daffodil waving Welsh people.

No …

Remember, last week, I had an interview at BT’s Brentwood office?

Today is the day I’m expecting to hear — one way or the other — I’m due to hear if I’ve got the job.

I would seriously like the job.

It’s local, very well paid, and sounds doable …

On the OTHER hand … ?

As much as I’d like a ‘You’re Hired,’ I’m expecting ‘We’re sorry, but …’

Either way … ?

Well … nerves …

The Daily Teaser — 1-3-2015: Saint David’s Day.

Ohhhh …

But sleep feels … tempting …

No, Really … !

I’ll be honest … ?

I had a nice quiet night in, last night.

In … making videos … !

And actually got finished at about one in the morning.

Personally … ?   Personally, I hope they get some appreciation.

There’s a lot of effort gone into them …

The Daily Teaser — 1-3-2013: Saint David’s Day … !

Well, it’s official … It’s now March … !

Which means two things.

It means 1) I’m getting nearer to me birthday, 2) I’m getting nearer to a posh meal and 3) there may well be presents.

Ha!   I should coco … !

At ANY rate … ?   It’s also a Friday: which means I’ll be putting up the Friday Question set, at some point.   I’m going to have to finish the post about the movie I saw on Tuesday.   And I’m planning on possibly commenting on the Eastleigh by-election.

But let’s move on to the Teaser, shall we … ?

~~≈≈~~

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: in spite of her hand acting up, it  saw her bagging four out of five.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s Teaser, shall we … ?   Here it is, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …

Q1) 1st March is — obviously — Saint David’s Day, the feast day of the patron saint of Wales.   What’s the Welsh phrase for Saint David’s Day … ?
Q2) Welsh is spoken in Wales: and in part of which South American country … ?
Q3) A greeting in Welsh is included on golden records on which spacecraft … ?
Q4) Which member of the Fantastic Four speaks Welsh … ?
Q5) Which Welsh speaking actress played Livia, in the TV series, I, Claudius … ?
Q6) And finally … Which designer’s parents were from Welsh mining families … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 28th February, 1928, saw C. V. Raman discover the Raman Effect: the scattering, in liquids, of what: neutrinos, photons or tachyons … ?
A1) Photons.
Q2) 28th February, 1980, saw which Spanish region vote to become autonomous … ?
A2) Andalusia.
Q3) 28th February, 1935, saw Wallace Carothers invent Nylon.   Whilst working for whom: Mexichem, DuPont or Texize … ?
A3) DuPont.

A4) Madison Square Gardens.
Q5) And finally … 28th February, 1922, saw the UK declare which of its protectorates to be independent … ?
A5) Egypt.
I’ll leave you with this quote from the late Dylan Thomas …
“Years and years and years ago, when I was a boy, when there were wolves in Wales, and birds the colour of red-flannel petticoats whisked past the harp-shaped hills, when we sang and wallowed all night and day in caves that smelt like Sunday afternoons in damp front farmhouse parlours, and we chased, with the jawbones of deacons, the English and the bears, before the motor car, before the wheel, before the duchess-faced horse, when we rode the daft and happy hills bareback, it snowed and it snowed.”
Dylan Thomas.
And with Merched Yn Neud Gwallt Eu Gilydd, by Gorky’s Zygotic Mynciº.

Happy Saint David’s Day … !

*        Sounds like you’re having a bad evening, Debbi.   I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you, if you’ll pardon the phrase.   (I’m also hoping the acupuncture helps: strange, but true, I’ve known a few smokers, over the years, who’ve found it helpful in giving up.)

º        Gorky, as in Park, Zygotic as in embryo and Mynci … as in Monkey: Mynci is the Welsh spelling of the word …
