I’m writing this opening introduction to this piece: whilst doing dinner.

Yep: I’m going to be watching Coming Home: the last episode of this particular series of Star Trek Discovery.

Yep: it’s been one of those days.

One where a piece of kit had to be returned to Basildon Hospital.

Kit that is supposed to check my blood oxygen levels: but that I found incredibly uncomfortably to wear.

The nasal cannula wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

The machinery that it was attached to?

That made me look like a wannabe Borg … ?

And was supposed to stay on overnight … ?

Well … 



That didn’t last long.

At any rate, I’ve taken the kit back to Basildon Hospital, today, and tried highlighting I have an issue.

Hopefully?



We can see what happens.

OK, Friday … ?

Yes: it’s a Friday.

And it’s one that’s been am … interesting day.

One where I had a telephone interview, this morning: and got the happy news that I’ve got the face to face interview … at eleven thirty, next Friday.

Nervous?

Yes … !

I’m always nervous at interviews.

But I’ll at least have time to look up where the place is, in relation to the nearest station.

And?

Well, brush up on my interview technique.

Well, I’d’ve probably done things differently.

Whatever way around the actual footage of my street is … ?

I’m glad I filmed it: as it’s given me a chance to toy with iMovie’s Picture in Picture filters.

OK … that video doesn’t look stunning …

But it was a first try …

Was something to do: in between sorting out laundry, cleaning, job hunting, madly texting people …

The usual stuff one does on a quiet Saturday.

As you know, I’ve been watching El Ministerio del Tiempo/The Ministry of Time for quite some time, now: finding it funny, dramatic, tense, emotional … anything a good series should be.

I’ve watched the last episode of Series 2, tonight.

Yes: Phwoh is entirely appropriate … !

More TV it decidedly is.

OK, OK, I could easily end up heading out.

But not having that much cash?   And living at the bottom of a hill?

There’s nowhere I’m in a rush to go to, especially.

On top of that … ?

Well … 

I was working last night.

Which is nice, certainly: it certainly pays for dinner.

Which I’ve been having a BIT too much of, recently.

At ANY rate, that’s beside the point.

Frankly?

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been riveted by the sheer geeky joys of Star Trek: Discovery.

This week’s thirteenth episode, What’s Past is Prologue?

Yep, that’ll keep me going …

American Horror Story — Series 4: Freak Show — Episodes 12 & 13: Show Stoppers & Curtain Call.

You know, I really don’t have money to spend.

I don’t.

So it’s not that often I turn on my heating of an evening.

My flat’s warm enough, as it is.

But to and from the office, today?

Wasn’t necessarily that cold.

But was chilly enough that — right now? — turning on the heating for a bit seemed a good idea.

Especially as the chair in front of my TV?   Has it’s back to the door to the living room: and the incredible draft the vents at the top of the window generate.

One day, I’ll remember how to close them … !

At any rate, I have the day off, tomorrow.

Which means, theoretically, I get to sleep in.

So … ?

As far as I’m concerned, it means I can catch up with some more TV.

I’ve been watching American Horror Story’s fourth series.

Given it was the last two episodes?

I wasn’t going to walk away from series 4.

House of Cards — Series 5: Episodes 11, 12 & 13 — Chapters 63, 64 and 65

There’s something of an old … 

No, there’s something of a new slogan doing the rounds: over the past few years.

An advertising slogan, so you know.

“You should’ve gone to Specsavers.”

Britain’s budget optician are very reasonable, on price.

But charged me £7·50, the last time I needed a repair.

An arm dropped off my regular glasses.

That’s another few quid going their way.

Once I get paid!

Not that it’s completely irrelevant to what I’m doing.

Ish!

Frankly, I’ve managed to buy an album: by Karlheinz Stockhausen, consisting of parts one and two of Kontakte, and a previous electronic work of his, called Gesang der Jünglinge.

I bought it on a whim, to be honest.

I’ve taken a vague — very vague — interest in eleoctronic music: having grown up on the theme tune to Dr Who, And the likes of Gary Numan, OMD and Hot Butter’s Popcorn.

The whim itself?

Got provoked by seeing today’s Google Doodle: marking the studio where a lot of Stockhausen’s electronic stuff was recorded.

Hmmm … 

It’s an album worth hearing, I think: especially if the soundtrack to Forbidden Planet is up your street.

You know, you can possibly tell I’ve got an early start in the morning, can’t you?

Possibly.

Frankly?

The fact that, on a Friday night, I’m putting up a blog post I expect to go live well before bedtime.

Hopefully, before midnight.

Tomorrow, you see, I’ve got to start work at ten.

In the morning.

Which means getting up at five.

So … ?

Frankly, that means an early night, from where I’m sitting.

And an early start to a TV box set I’ve been watching.

House of Cards — Series 4: Episodes 11, 12 & 13 (Chapters 50, 51 and 52)

Recently?

Recently, you’ll have realised I’m back to job-hunting.

So there’s thing’s I’m going to be economising on.

Hopefully?

I won’t have to lose net access: what with BT’s prices changing over the years.

Although I stress hopefully, there.

One thing I do know may — depending on circumstances — will suffer?

Is my viewing habits.

As you MAY realise, I’ve been able to buy and watch the odd box-set: and write about them here.

Given the job situation?   That may slow down, if not stop.   But we’ll have to see, won’t we?

Right at the moment?

I’m aware of a few things.

I’m aware I’ve got enough iTunes credit to rent a few movies, and possibly catch up with one or two box-sets.

Should I be able to balance the budget.

After all, I’ve still not seen season three of Penny Dreadful, nor of The Strain: something I’d like to do.

But?

As I got the box set, before the job situation came crashing down around my ears, the one thing I was able to do, was see the last three episodes of season four of House of Cards.

And yes … 

I THINK the series is a good investment …

The Strain Series 2: Episodes 11, 12 and 13 — Dead End, Fallen Light and The Night Train

You know, I’m getting into some bad habits, I really am.

Seriously.

Eating at the wrong time, too mush sugar in my tea, staying up late … !

Actually … ?

I’ve a good — ish — reason for staying up late, tonight.

For starters?  I’ve time off, tomorrow.

Secondly?

I’ve just watched the last three series of The Strain’s second series.

And?

There’s a suitably satisfying big climax, there … !

House of Cards — Series 3: Episodes 12 and 13 (Chapters 38 and 39)

Right … 

It’s a Wednesday: just in case you hadn’t guessed.

And frankly, one where I’ve had little do: beyond house-keeping, a little light writing, and some shopping.

And … ?

AND watching some TV.

Now, given you know I like several series — Dr Who, certainly, plus Merlin, Torchwood and Penny Dreadful — you’d be correct in assuming it’s one of the few I’ve happily withered on about.

You‘d be right.

In this case, though?

It’s House of Cards.

The last two episodes of series three, in fact.

The Strain Series 1 — Episodes 11, 12 & 13: Third Rail, Last Rites and The Master …

You know, I’ve got into an awfully bad habit.

No, wait, scrub that: I’ve HAD some awfully bad habits.

Most of which I’m really not going to talk about, here!

But one … bad … ?

One habit I’ve fallen into, recently, is something a lot of us are doing.

Yes … 

I’ve started to binge watch TV box sets.   As if you hadn’t noticed.

And, if you’ve been following on for a while … ?

You’ll know I’d’ve lined up not one, not two, but three — the last three — episodes of series one of … The Strain.

I’m easily impressed by good genre TV: and series 1 …

House of Cards — Series 1: Episodes 12 and 13

You know, I have a habit or two.

Possibly several, actually: now I come to think of it.

And a few of those … ?   Will be ones I’m not going to admit to on a public forum like a blog!

Not if I can help it … !

One of the ones I will admit to … ?

Is liking a TV series or two.

And … ?   Well, over the past few nights, I’ve been watching House of Cards.

While tonight’s too episodes haven’t got me as caught as the rest of the series?

It does round off this initial series, rather well.

Merlin Episode 13 Series 4: The Sword In The Stone: Part 2: NOW We’re Talking … !

You know, I’ve GOT to be honest, honest, right now, I’ve just had a rather nice christmas eve dinner with the family, tonight.

But managed to get home in time to catch the climactic episode — episode 13, in other words — of season four of Merlin.

And I’ll be frank, if I may … ?

I’m thinking two things, for starters.

For one thing … ?

This years Christmas TV offerings really AREN’T grabbing my attention.

At least enough to have them on … !

The second … ?

Is that tonight‘s season four climax was … …

Hmmm …

Let me try and sum up, if I can …

Following on from last week’s episode, The Sword In The Stone: Part 2 sees Arthur fleeing from the site of a almost fatal skirmish, and having serious doubts about his abilities to rule.

Until … ?

Until in a pivotal scene, fairly early on, Merlin — after consulting with the Dragon — manages to convince Arthur his destiny is to rule not only Camelot, but all of Albion.

And does this by telling Arthur that the TRUE King …

Is the only one that can extract a certain very magical weapon from an equally enchanted stone.

Hmmm …

Sorry, I got distracted, there: ended up looking for Stormbringer, there …

At ANY rate … !

At any rate, I’m got to admit, I’m quietly impressed by this episode: although saying that … ?

Not as impressed by the opening couple of episodes series four: or by series 3 of Merlin, something I feel to have been the best overall series to date.

On the other hand … ?

The other hand will be happily pointing out that Merlin series four has concentrated more on the emotional lives of the characters, rather than the huge amounts of action that Merlin is capable of.

And what’s more … ?

What’s more, by making sure that Morgana is healed — and healed by Aithüsa, the white dragon we saw earlier in this season — the writers have left the story nicely open for a potential fifth season.

I don’t know about you … ?

But I want to see these versions of the characters grow: and develop.

AND have all those adventure that lead to the Last Battles …
