Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18-2-2026 — Ramadan

18th February, 2026: Ramadan.

Right … I’ve officially got to pick some forms up!

I’m diabetic, if you didn’t know: so have to have quarterly blood tests, to check my blood sugar levels.

Hopefully?

Hopefully, when the test results come in, they will have gone better than my recent weigh-in … !

I’m something of a Mac fan: you’ve probably already worked that out, haven’t you … ?

So … ?

I am very aware there’s rumours about up-and-coming Apple products.

Including rumours of a lightweight MacBook, one with 8gb of RAM, a 256gb SSD, an A-series chip, and a funky case.

I’m …

Yes: of course I’m interested to see if the rumoured machine will turn up.

And yes, I think it will be a very good on-the-go machine.

But I can’t help but think it’s a little underpowered for the current version of the operating system.

And also remember that Steve Jobs, when he rejoined Apple in the late 1990s, immediately cut a lot of poorly selling product lines.

Would this machine be one of the ones he cut?

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Olga† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        18th February, 2026, marks the start of Ramadan.   Ramadan is celebrated by whom: Muslims, Jews or Christians?

Q2)        People marking Ramadan will be doing what: fasting, singing or having sex?

Q3)        Ramadan is a period in its faith’s calendar.   How long a period: a week, a month or a year?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Marking Ramadan the traditional way is one of the religion’s Five Pillars.   Name one of the other four.
Ramadan is a moveable feast: the last question I wrote about it was in June of 2014.

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A2)        The Jam.

Q3)        The total sales of the Model T Ford were exceeded: on 17th February, 1972.   By what: the Vauxhall Astra, the Volkswagen Beetle or the Toyota Corolla?
A3)        The Volkswagen Type 1, or Volkswagen Beetle.

Q4)        The US Supreme Court ruled is the Wesberry v. Sanders case: on 17th February, 1964.   The decision meant US congressional districts had to be roughly equal in the size of their whats: areas, populations or earnings?
A4)        Populations.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Footballer, Tyler Dibling, was born on 17th February, 2006.   At the time of writing, he plays for which club: Liverpool, Everton or Accrington Stanley?
A5)        Everton.
Here’s a quote …
“[Believers] hold that all scriptures were revealed during Ramadan, the scrolls of Abraham, Torah, Psalms, Gospel, and Quran having been handed down during that month.”
From the Wikipedia entry on Ramadan.
And the call to prayer …

The next three ten question sets are on the 27th and 28th of February, and 1st of March: they’re about Pokémon, Andalusia and Nebraska.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Rick Butler was the drummer for the Jam, Mum, not the Specials.)

I think everyone’s beaten me to it, Olga: putting a roll of tape over your wrist is an old idea.   But I am thinking about teapots …
Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cosy, doesn’t try it on.
