30th December, 2025: Name That Sportsman!
I think I can safely say I have two copies of The Lord of the Rings: Ralph Bakshi’s animated, 1978, version.
And I’m going to have to send back the DVD copy I got.
Amazon has both a DVD and a blu-ray version: and, given how their search results, go, sometimes?
I didn’t see the bluray version … until after I’d bought the DVD!
Something’s getting set back …

A few minutes ago, I took a couple of photos: outside the front of my building.
I don’t know that the camera on my phone catches the colours, but the sky … ?
Was gorgeous: with clouds turned glorious shades of red and pink, in the light of the sunrise.
OK: I grant you the old ‘Red Sky at Night’ saw reminds us the weather’s going to be (possibly) bad for the rest of the day.
But … ?
For the few moments it took me to take the photos, it was beautiful.

You’ll possibly remember that former Old Peculiar regular, Trevor Veail, died recently.
I’ve been contacted by Gill, his sister: who tells me his cremation is tomorrow — 31st December, 2025 — at 8·30.
As it’s what’s called a simple funeral, she’s encouraging us to send thoughts, then …
I’ll be pausing, I know that: as it will be a sad day.
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“I’ve done it before. It won’t be the last time. You’re going to go years where you just don’t win. That’s okay, as long as you keep trying to improve.”Eldrick Woods.
And a Bing Crosby flavoured clue …
There’s a twelve question set tomorrow: it’s the review of 2025.
The next ten question set is on 1st January, 2026: it’s about The Archers.
Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.
AI is avoided when writing these questions.
Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello, Mum! (American Americans, Mum? It was African Americans!)
† Yeah: Idi Amin had quite the reputation, Olga. As I recall, there were horror stories doing the rounds. Supposedly, he kept his enemies’ heads in the fridge. (I had to check my copy of Harts, there, Olga: about the apostrophe in “enemies’”. It’s a lot easier to use than Fowlers!)
‡ It was possibly a package landing on the stairs, Debbi!
