Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-12-2025 — Saint Lucy’s Day

13th December, 2025: Saint Lucy’s Day.

I think I’m having a frustrating morning!

I managed to update my Mac from macOS Tahoe 26·1 to macOS Tahoe 26·2, last night.

When Apple’s own information page tells you an app may “be able to access sensitive payment tokens”, you take it seriously!

Even if you only have half an idea what the phrase means!

It sounds like money’s involved, so I’d rather be safe, than sorry!

Unfortunately?

It’s made uploading photos and video to this blog, fiddly: and meant I’ve hopefully corrected it by adjusting my privacy settings.

But … ?

I’m betting it’s going to happen again, tomorrow!

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        13th December is the feast day of Saint Lucy.   She’s also known as Saint Lucia of where: Syracuse, Syria or Sidon?

Q2)        13th December is also the national day of which Caribbean nation?

Q3)        13th December is marked as Saint Lucia’s Day.   Where: Africa, Russia or Scandinavia?

Q4)        She’s traditionally depicted holding a what: a lamp, a crozier or a Sony Walkman?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Saint Lucy is a patron saint of whom: the blind, deaf or mute?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        12th December is the feast day of Blessed Ida of Nivelles.   Where is Nivelles: France, Belgium or the Netherlands?
A1)        Belgium.   Ida, herself, was a beguine: an especially godly unmarried woman.

Q2)        UN Security Council Resolution 121 was passed on 12th December, 1956.   It allowed which nation to join the UN: Japan, Laos or Vietnam?
A2)        Japan.

Q3)        UN Security Council Resolution 13 was passed on 12th December, 1946.   It allowed what’s now which nation to join the UN: Cambodia, China or Thailand?
A3)        Thailand: then called Siam.

Q4)        Mayim Bialik was born on 12th December, 1975.   She played Dr Amy Farah Fowler in which US comedy?
A4)        The Big Bang Theory.   Have a tiara.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Kenya became independent from the UK.   On 12th December of which year: 1961, 1962 or 1963?
A5)        1963.   (It became a republic, one year later.)
Here’s a thought …
“Saint Lucy’s Day, also called the Feast of Saint Lucy, is a Christian feast day observed on 13 December.”
From the Wikipedia entry on Saint Lucy’s Day.
And a traditional Neapolitan song …

The next ten question set is on 17th December, 2025: it’s about Ludwig van Beethoven.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The use of AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was Belgium, Mum, rather than France.)

        I certainly try, Debbi … !
Oh, I’ve tried to keep the answers short in the upcoming ten question sets: I don’t know if I’ve succeeded, though …

There is a famous and pretty ancient Christmas market in Barcelona, right in front of the old Cathedral, in honour of Santa Llúcia (Saint Lucy in Catalan).

I hope the glitches settle soon, Paul.
Tomorrow I have to cover a piece of news for the radio. (I do it every year. I have mentioned before that the Catalan TV, TV3 organises an event to collect money every year, this is the 34th, to support the investigation of illnesses and health-related matters, and I am going to help with the phones tomorrow evening (from 10 pm to 1 am), but I also cover the things they have organised locally to raise money for it (they have stalls selling things, they organise activities for childrens, and they have music, dance, and a variety of entertainments to collect money as well). That goes on until early in the afternoon, and I do my best to talk to as many of the participants as possible and take pictures. It will be more challenging, because the usual photographer (the partner of the director of the radio) has been ill in hospital and she should not be exposing herself to the flu and all kinds of things, so I'll be trying to do it solo. I'll do the best I can, but I won't have time to visit. Have a lovely weekend. ♥
