*        I found out, when writing a Crosby themed Teaser, a few years ago, that Bing was a major investor in Ampex, one of the early US, tape recorder manufacturers: he made sure their machines was used to record his radio shows for distribution.

        I think he’d twigged, early on, that controlling your own master recordings was a good way of controlling when they got released: and, therefore, when you started getting royalties.   Something you don’t have to tell Taylor Swift.
