Football Crazy …

I’ve got to admit, I’ve done a themed teaser, today.

And it’s one that’s a bit of an oddity for me; it’s a football one.

Today is the anniversary of the founding of FIFA, the Fédération International de Football Association, Association Football’s international governing body.

And while I’m no fan — as anyone, especially the regular’s at the quizzes will tell you — I thought it would be at least a nice gesture, given that, to do a Footie teaser.   And, as Smitty, over at the Hutton, would have told you, it’s necessarily guaranteed accurate; not being a fan, I’ve not got the knowledge base that means I’d spot an iffy quiz question …

Here, see what you make of this lot …

Q1) FIFA was founded on the 21st May; but in which year of the 20th century?

Q2) What was the name of the board game launched by Terry Venables?

Q3) Who did Jack Charlton play all his League games with?

Q4) Who was the manager of Manchester United’s manager, immediately prior to Sir Alex Ferguson?

Q5) Which Ghanaian player was the 1st to play for an English side?

Q6) Bobby Robson left which club to join Barcelona?

Q7) Edson Arantes do Nascimento is the real name of which football player?

Q8) Which Italy defender did Zinedine Zidane headbutt, in the final of the 2006 World Cup?

Q9) Which football club is generally agreed to be the oldest in England?

Q10) Which international side did Diego Maradona play for?

Intrigued?   Or have you spotted something I’ve got wrong?   Feel free to comment if I have!

Moving on, here’s yesterday’s question’s and answers …

Q1) May 20th, 1927 saw Charles Lindbergh start his famous flight across the Atlantic; he completed it by landin at an airfield outside which French city?

Q2) Today also saw the first publications of which group of Shakespear’s works; his sonnets, his tragedies, or his comedies?

Hope you}ve enjoyed them!

* The name, I’m told, translates as ‘Light Bringer’; granted, it’s seen as a synonym for the Devil, these days, but as a name for a saint … ? It does seems appropriate …
