Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th May 2018

5th May, 2018.

Yep: I’m at work, today.

And … ?

Frankly, I’m looking forward to tomorrow.

That’ll be my first day off for some time!

~≈§≈~

Can I mak a confession, here?

I’m both curious … and still, mildly concerned.

Coming home last night, I caught my usual train home: the 22·26 from Platform One, at Chelmsford Station.

A girl — well, young woman — was one the bench next to me … asleep.

Well …

Certainly on the way to being asleep.

I managed to briefly wake her up, long enough to ask if she was OK.

She said, “Yeah …”

Rather quietly.

And started snoozing, again.

I was mildly concerned.

Granted, Chelmsford isn’t Syria: or even London, where things can get hairy.

But I really wanted to alert one of the staff, just to make sure some one was keeping an eye on her.

Which is when my train decided to turn up.

Frankly?   I had to grab that.

But felt I had to do something.

I tweeted …
Greater Anglia, the people who actually run Chelmsford Station, were at least good enough to send a reply.
After that … ?

After that, I really couldn’t tell you what happened.

But would love to know.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 5th May is Lusophone Culture Day: celebrated by people who speak which language?
Q2) 5th May, 1494 saw Columbus land on which island?
Q3) Kublai Khan was named as Mongol Emperor on 5th May, 1260.   As such, his title would have been what: King of Kings, Great Khan or Shogun?
Q4) The first all British satellite, the Ariel 3, launched on 5th May: of which year?
Q5) Finally … the first railway in Europe open on 5th May, 1835.   In which European country?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Because of the pun, ‘May the Fourth be with you,’ 4th May is Star Wars Day.   Who — in the original Star Wars — first describes the Force to Luke Skywalker?
Q2) Britain’s first female Prime Minister was elected to office: on 4th May, 1979.   Who was she?
Q3) London’s first Mayor was elected on 4th May, 2000.   Who WAS that first mayor?
Q4) Eric Sykes was born, on 4th May, 1923.   What was the name of the TV show he starred in, between 1972 to 1979?
A4) Sykes.
Q5) Finally … 4th May, 1936, saw the birth of bullfighter, Manuel Benítez Pérez.   What name does he use, as a matador?
Here’s a thought …
“I don’t really need to stand out, there’s room for everyone.   Although I haven’t built a niche yet, I’m just writing love songs.”
Adele, born 5th May, 1988.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        That I did, Olga, THAT I did … I’ll pass on the best wishes, Olga: posh family meal, tonight ….  (Oh, happy belated birthday wishes … !)

†        The Young Ones is a bit different, Debbi: way more slapstick!   I don’t know if it’d air, over there.   They DID have a band on, each week, though: nice to see groups like Amazulu and Motorhead in a comedy show.   And Mike the Cool Person is played by Chris Ryan: better known as the Sontaran, General Staal.   (I’ll pass on the best wishes, Debbi!)
