Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-9-2024 — Malta

21st September, 2024: Malta.

Right then: it’s Saturday!

And, three days into using macOS Sequoia?

I have to admit, I’m enjoying it.

The new wallpaper’s are fun, the new window tiling features — now I’m figuring them out — are handy, and Quicktime’s new Background* feature are something I’m already taking advantage of.

About the only downside?

Was having to re-sign in to my Blogger account: and, last night?

Reconnect my copy of TV.app to the TV media library: so I could watch something on my AppleTV.

Heigh ho!

Just as a sad bit of news … ?

Voice actor, David Graham, has died.

He’ll be much missed: especially as he was one of the original Dalek voices in the 1960s: and the voice of Parker, in the original Thunderbirds show.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum†, Olga‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, Debbi on four and Mum on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s political questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        21st September is Independence Day in Malta.   It marks the country’s indolence from where: the UK, USA or UAE?

Q2)        The country became independent in which year of the 196os?

Q3)        Malta also joined what, on Independence Day: the UN, EU or Commonwealth?

Q4)        Name either one of Malta’s two official languages.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Fira is a Maltese what: soup, bread or sausage?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        20th September is the Feast day of Saint Eustace.   He’s the patron Saint of where: Barcelona, Madrid or Valencia?
A1)        Madrid.

Q2)        20th September is Constitution Day.   Where: India, Nepal or Pakistan … ?
A2)        Nepal.

Q3)        20th September, 2024, is World Cleanup Day.   When was it first marked: 2016, 2018 or 2020?
A3)        2018.

Q4)        Sophia Loren was born on 20th September, 1934. Where: Italy, France or Romania?
A4)        Italy.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The US embassy in Beirut was attacked by a suicide bomber. On 20th September of which year of the 1980s?
A5)        1984.
Here’s a thought …
“Strength and persistence”.
Malta’s motto.
A national anthem …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        From a personal viewpoint?   iMovie’s one flaw is that you can’t composite an image into a green screen video, whilst using it with the Picture-in-picture or split-screen options.   Quicktime’s new background feature should help, there: it means I can use a still background, if nothing else.

†        Hello, Mum!

24th September, Olga?   I might just have to bookmark that, and see what I can do.
Yeah, a long-con sounds about right: and I’m assuming there would be a lot of dummy companies involved, as well.   Investigators would have a devil of a time tracing those.
Those exploding pagers and walkie talkies reminded me: some terrorist groups would cheap mobile phones in their bombs, instead of timers.   Shove the bomb in a bin in the high street, walk away … and ring the phone when you’re at a safe distance …
(Yes, my call was good … thankfully!   My sugar levels have gone down.   Not by much, but at least it’s moving.)

§        I thought that quote would appeal, Debbi!   (I never read the novels: but the series was interesting.)

Good news about your blood sugar levels, and yes, I remember seeing the use of mobile phones as detonators in movies. I had to cover a fair today (an animal fair organised by a neighbour) for the radio, and it's a whole day event, so I don't have enough time other than for the message, but I hope tomorrow will be quieter.
