9th June, 2025: The Wise Little Hen.
Right: I’m now awake … !
Early, as always.
It’s Monday: so I’m off to my regular weight management group.
Hopefully?
I’ll’ve lost some weight.
I’ve been plateauing on the same weight for the past three weeks, so I’d like to have lost some!

I think Jude — my nephew — has a hidden talent or two.
We had the inevitable family dinner, last night.
So, Jude being Jude, he brought his laptop: to give himself something to do.
It seems he’s got a musical bent: as he was experimented with a music creation site — it’s called BeepBox — while he was there.
And?
And … ?
He managed to come up with this lot.
I’m mildly impressed … !

Just as a last thoughts … ?
I had a word, last night: from Gill, the sister of long time reader, Trevor.
He’s currently in hospital at the moment: with a Serious urinary tract infection.
Here’s hoping that can be treated, quickly!

Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, Debbi‡ and Irene§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Debbi and Irene scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s [insert number here] question set, shall we?
Q1) The Wise Little Hen was officially released on 9th June. 9th June of which year of the 1930s?Q2) The cartoon was produced by whom?Q3) The cartoon was the first to feature which character: Yosemite Sam, Mickey Mouse, Batman or Donald Duck?Q4) In the cartoon, that character dances to what: “The Sailor’s Hornpipe”, “The Lincolnshire Poacher” or “Hole in the Wall”?Q5) Finally … ? The cartoon was a what: Silly Symphony, Merry Melody or Loony Tunes?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) Andrew Irvine and George Mallory went missing: on 8th June. In an attempt to climb what: K2, Mount Everest or the Matterhorn?Q2) They went missing in which year of the 1920s?A2) 1924. Since 1924, there has been speculation about whether they were successful. No-one knows.Q3) 8th June, AD632, saw the death of the Prophet Muhammad. He’s seen as the founder of which religion … ? (I’m going to be strict about this answers)A3) Islam. I’m not going to accept ‘muslim’ as an answer. Islam is the religion, and the answer I’m after: a muslim — or Muslim — is a follower of that religion. Saying that seems obvious: but it came up a few times in live quizzes.Q4) Neil Baker was born on 8th June, 1960. He played what: Rugby Union, Rugby League or Rugby Sevens?Q5) Finally … ? Ivo Sanader was born on 8th June, 1953. He was the 8th Prime Minister of where: Croatia, Slovenia or Slovakia?A5) Croatia.
Here’s a thought …
“The Wise Little Hen of the title is looking for someone to help her plant her corn for the winter.”From the Wikipedia entry on the cartoon.
And a clue!
The next ten question set is on 11th June: it’s about E. T.: The Extraterrestrial
Comments and answers will be published, tomorrow morning.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* I’m recovering, Olga: so that’s something to be thankful for. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your mother!
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I’m assuming that's due to other players and drivers, Debbi … ?
Oh, have you heard about LA … ? There’s rubber bullets being used. Cue the music … !
