14th October, 2025: World Standards Day.
I think we can safely say I’m up early, again.
Yes: I’m going to be helping Mum take a few bits to the tip!
Here’s hoping we can get things done, quickly!

Oh … I’ve got the Today programme on: and … ?
They’re planning to interview Tim Curry, as part of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations of The Rocky Horror Picture Show Picture Show.
Yes: that will be nice to hear.
But I’m wondering why it’s happening now.
The film was originally released in August of 1975: so the celebration’s a little late … !
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Mum and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Irene on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“The SI base units are the standard units of measurement defined by the International System of Units (SI) for the seven base quantities of what is now known as the International System of Quantities”.From the Wikipedia entry on SI units.
And a a Leslie Odom Jr song …
The next ten question set is on 24th October: it’s about Zambia.
Your comments will be published, tomorrow morning.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Where possible, we avoid writing these questions with AI.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* I do know I keep meaning to read Spycatcher, Olga. Mostly because there was a huge fuss about it. The court case was one hell of a free advert!
Oh, lord, that is bad time … ! I suspect it possibly won’t be much help, but could you offer my condolences to your cousins, please? Any death is sad, but the timing of these seems unfortunate …
† Hello, Mum! See you later … !
‡ Have you tried turning the germs on and off again, Irene?
§ Don’t tell the religious right you said that, Debbi: you might get … um … issues … !

Thanks, Paul. I’ll pass your condolences on. My uncle lived in Galicia, in the Northwest of Spain (about 1000 km away from here), and we won’t be going to the funeral, because, as things are, it would be very complicated. He and his wife used to live in the little village where my Dad was born, but due to both their illnesses, they had to move to Ourense, that is the biggest city in the county (not the region, but still, a fairly long trip away, because there are many hills and it takes a while to drive there). My male cousin, Emilio, who is a bachelor and works as a vet, had taken leave of absence from his work to stay with his father, as Pili, his sister, lives and works in Germany, and her family are there as well, so it would have been more complicated, although she had been coming and going as much as possible, and she was there on that day.
I am sure that losing his wife had a negative impact on his health. I remember my cousin told me, when their mother died, that both of them, mother and father, where in hospital, in different parts of the hospital, and they had been up and down for days, visiting both. Luckily, at least their father had managed to see his wife shortly before she died. But although he was discharged from hospital, they hospital team kept visiting him at home, and he had to go back to hospital every couple of days or so, for blood transfusions, so…
Even when you know they are ill, it must be a shock to lose both parents in such rapid succession.
I hope the trip to the tip goes well.
Oh, well, the religious nuts know where to find me! :)

Did I ever tell you my first college major was electronics technology?
This was a year after high school, I finally went to community college, with this notion of going into music and studying electronics, to get into playing and composing electronic music. I was kind of following Pete Townsend's work, when he was getting into the whole synth thing. Using synthesizers in rock music.
Plus there was Eno, Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and even Alice Cooper started out making weird music with Frank Zappa. :)
I'd never heard OMD until you posted the song "This is Helena". I really like that one. Now I like many of their songs.
Anyway, all the talk about amps and science stuff reminded that I used to do all these techie things. And now technology is racing ahead faster than anyone can keep up. Ack! Ah, well. :)
As for 'Rocky Horror', better late than never. :)
