The Killer Inside Me: with some newsy stuff …

You know, Movie nights can be …

Interesting …

Yes, that’s the word.

Especially when you consider that Movie Night Adrian and I only managed to get together to catch one on Sunday.

It’s only now, though, or course, that I’ve actually managed to get the chance to write about it.

And a little piece of newsgossip, really — about a certain technology company, as well.

Which would all happen on the same day a certain pair of twenty-somethings decided to announce their engagement.

Wouldn’t you know it … ?

Good luck to them, but we’re never going to hear the last of it, are we … ?

And as for what that helicopter was doing, hovering over Movie Night Adrian’s flat just now.

Blowed if I know … !

At any rate — before I start burbling — I was going to tell you about the movie me and Adrian saw on Sunday night.

The 2010, Michæl Winterbottom film that is The Killer Inside Me.

Which is definitely something to catch …

The Killer Inside Me sees Casey Affleck — Ben’s brother — as Deputy Lou Ford, an — apparently — normal and slightly boring small-town Texas lawman, with a taste for kinky sex and murder.

He’s asked one day, to make sure that hooker, Joyce Lakeland is driven out of town for blackmailing the son of a local prominent businessman.

And the consequences — for other people — aren’t exactly …

Aren’t exactly pleasant, let’s put it that way …

Now, The Killer Inside Me is quite a good film, I’m thinking: nicely played, scripted and shot.

I liked it, mostly on the back of that ol’ fashioned noir feel to it: unsurpising, given it’s origins.

I will caution you, though, it has generated some controversy: those of us who feel a touch cautious about graphic violence — especially graphic violence towards women — will want to keep that in mind before seeing it.

With that in mind … ?

I’ll close this post with the trailer.

And let you make up your own mind …
