The Daily Teaser — 28-10-2015

Oy … !

There’s times I like my job … and then there’s times my job serves up a bad evening … !

Last night was one of those.

Frankly, we’re had a seriously snotty customer in: one of the teenagers that can be a trial for anyone in the fast-food industry.

Doesn’t excuse the way I handled it: which was badly, I should add.

Normally, I don’t get that unprofessional.   In fact, I think it’s the first time I’ve lost my temper at a customer for about a decade.

But still …

Bad nights … !

But let’s get a move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 28th October, 1942, saw the complete of the Alcan Highway.   The road goes through Canada and Alaska:  and terminates in which Alaskan city?
Q2) 28th October, 2009, saw 137 people killed in a bombing in Peshawar.   Peshawar — and the bombing — were and are in which country?
Q3) NASA launched the ARES 1-X rocket: on 28th October, 2009.   The rocket was part of the Constellation Program: that NASA — until they cancelled it — were planning to use to replace what?
Q4) Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev, ordered the removal of Soviet missiles: on 28th October, 1962.   From where?
Q5) Finally … Cristina Fernández de Kirchner was elected as the first woman President of her country: on 28th October, 2007.   Which country was she president of?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 27th October, 1961, saw Mongolia formally become a member of the United Nations.   What’s Mongolia’s capital city?
Q2) Many years later, 27th October, 1995, saw Latvia apply to join the European Union.   What’s Latvia’s sole official language?
A2) Latvian.
Q3) 27th October, 1939, saw the birth of comedian, actor, and minister of silly walks, John Cleese.   Cleese co-founded the Secret Policeman’s Ball benefit gigs.   Which charity did the Balls raise money for?
Q4) One year later, 27th October, 1940, saw the birth of mobster, John Gotti.   Gotti headed which of the Five Families?
A4) The Gambinos.
Q5) Finally … 27th October, 2014, saw the death of former politician, Starke Taylor.   Which US city was he mayor of?
A5) Dallas, Texas.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Well, somehow, that struck me.   What struck me was that both statements couldn’t be true.   And I asked why this was so, and the answer that was given was in a sense, ‘Because.’   There was no satisfactory answer.”
Jonas Salk, October 28, 1914 – June 23, 1995.
And this tune …

Have a good day … !

*        Kind of a shame, in one sense, Debbi†: that one’s possibly an earner!   At ANY rate … ?   Did you find Die Evil Zombies, yesterday?   I hid it …

†        You know, that bass line’s very familiar … … !
