Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th June, 2025

14th June, 2025.

It’s got to be said: I’ve had a late — ish — start!

For various reasons!

So if this post goes up late?

I have an excuse.

Just not one I’m going to admit to … !

~≈🕙≈~

Oh, one thing I DO know … ?

Is that I caught a movie called Sinners, last night.

I’ll have my review up, later.

But, just in case you’re interested?

Here’s the trailer:

~≈🧛≈~

Ukraine … ?

Is a mess: there’s still a war on, and Russian troops on the ground.

But … ?

Israel and Iran are throwing missiles at each other.

I’m hoping they’ll have enough sense to negotiate some sort of deal.

My personal worry?

Is that they will escalate things.

Israel has nuclear weapons … and Iran is accused of having them.

Frankly?

I’d hate to see those used.

We know what can happen when they are …

~≈🤯≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Iren and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five question set, shall we?

Here it is, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The British government announced a new type of road crossing: on 14th June, 1961.   A crossing named after what: a panda, a pelican or a puffin?

Q2)        A South American nation left the League of Nations on 14th June, 1926.   Which South American nation?

Q3)        A ceasefire was agreed between the UK, and Argentine: on 14th June, 1982.   A ceasefire that paused fighting, where: the Falklands, the Shetlands or the Orkneys?

Q4)        The Disneyland Monorail System first opened on 14th June.   Of which year of the 1950s?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Vatican abolished the Index Librorum Prohibitorum on 14th June, 1966.   The Index was an Index of forbidden what: books, songs or cheeses?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        13th June, 2025 is a Friday: and therefore considered unlucky. Where: the western world, the third world or the planet Jupiter?
A1)        The western world.   (Apart from Spain, where it’s Tuesday 13th!)

Q2)        The most recent Friday the 13th movie was released in which year: 2007, 2008 or 2009?
A2)        2009.

Q3)        The Friday 13th mini-crash was a stock market crash in the US: in which year of the 1980s?
A3)        1989.

Q4)        The T. W. Lawson novel, Friday, the Thirteenth, was published in which year: 1905, 1907 or 1909?
A4)        1907.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Friday 13th EP was released in 1981.   By whom: the Damned, the Sex Pistols or the Ruts?
A5)        The Damned.
Here’s a thought on plausibility …
“Fiction has to be plausible.   All history has to do is happen.”
Harry Turtledove, born June 14, 1949.
And a performance from Lang Lang …

The next ten question set is on 26th June: it’s about Harry Potter.

Comments and answers will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I’ve added a note to that question, Olga!
Yeah: the BBC news’s got updates about Spain’s problems.   According to their piece, Mr Sánchez has gone on the record to say “There is no such thing as zero corruption, but there must be zero tolerance when it takes place.”   From what you’re saying, he doesn’t sound like he’s had zero tolerance!
At any rate … ?   Enjoy the weekend … !

Morning, Irene: how is the day … ?

§        I’ll keeps my fingers crossed for you, Debbi.   If you’ll pardon the phrase … !

There are anti-Trump protests all over the U.S. today. We drove past a gathering in Columbia. There had to be at least 1,000 people there! Wow!

I posted a reel on Insta. :)
