Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th April 2026

10th April, 2026.

Right …

I have a quote for today’s Teaser.
“I’m never interested in the business of promoting myself.   I really don’t care if people know who I am or what’s said about me.   I’m just here to do a job.”
One that’s wise, insightful, wonderfully wossname, and that’s capable of instilling deep joy in anyone who reads it.

But?

I didn’t make a note of who said it: and the Google search I did for the text showed me nothing!

I hate mornings like that!

Yes: if you’ve watched today’s introduction video, you’ll know I’ve had my usual Friday dose of Mounjaro.

A dose that can feel like having a strong coffee: like having a case of the jitters.

Why?

I don’t know.

I do know I’ve finally found out how — in Final Cut Pro 12·2 — to do a glitch effect: thanks to this video.

Thanking you, Reggie!

Glitchiness will have to replace knowledge …

Just as a last thought?

Most Dr Who fans will know that some lost episodes of The Daleks’ Master Plan have recently been found.

The five surviving episodes have made available on the BBC iPlayer.

It’s a fascinating watch: with a berserk performance from Hartnell, as the First Doctor.

I can only hope the remaining seven episodes of the story are found, and found soon.

Or that an animated reconstruction is done.

Given the story’s length, though?

I get the impression we’re going to have a long wait …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The first US Arbor Day was celebrated on 10th April, 1872.   In which US state?

Q2)        What are you supposed to do on Arbor Day: plant trees, make love or sing songs?

Q3)        In Azerbaijan, 10th April is what: Builder’s Day, Carpenter’s Day or Bricklayer’s Day?

Q4)        10th April is the feast day of William of Ockham.   The Ockham in question, is where: Sussex, Surrey or Suffolk?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Haley Joel Osment was born on 10th April, 1988.   He plays Cole Sear in which Bruce Willis movie?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        George Carpenter died on 9th April, 1948.   He was a General of what: the Salvation Army, the Jesus Army or the Most Holy Army of the Damp Squib?
A1)        The Salvation Army.

Q2)        Carl Perkins was born on 9th April, 1932.   December, 1956, saw Perkins record a session with what’s now called the Million Dollar Quartet.   Name one of the other three members of the quartet.
A2)        Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis or Johnny Cash.   (My question set about the session was a quiz writing master class … or something … )

Q3)        Today is Vimy Ridge Day.   It’s marked, where: Mexico, the USA or Canada?
A3)        Canada.

Q4)        9th April is National Unity Day in Georgia.   Which Georgia: the US state, or the former Soviet republic?
A4)        The former Soviet republic.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Paul Robeson was born on 9th April.   Of which year of the 1890s?
A5)        1898.
Here’s a unattributed quote, again …
“I’m never interested in the business of promoting myself.   I really don’t care if people know who I am or what’s said about me.   I’m just here to do a job.”
And a Bunny Wailer song …

The next ten question sets are on 16th, 21st and 23rd April. They’re about World Voice Day, Elizabeth 2nd and León and Castile.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

That reminds me, Debbi, I still have to finish the potted history of GCHQ: it’s a bit thick!
Oh, what’s left of The Daleks’ Master Plan should be appearing on the Dr Who Classic Youtube channel, at some point.   (I can’t access them from here: but they should be viewable at your end.)
