The Daily Teaser …

Well, there’s a thing!

According to the BBC News channel — which I’ve got playing in the background, at the moment — there’s a lot of unhappy people who are twitted off about having their travel plans thrown.

And others — who mostly live around airports — are seriously pleased that they can hear bird song in the morning!

Oy!

Let’s move on, shall we … ?

Yes …

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor, Libellous and FSG Drone — Andy, bless ’im — putting in answers, with Trevor and Andy bagging 5 out of 5, Libellous getting 2 points, and Trevor walking away with the Official First-In-Clap.

Phew … !

Here’s hoping everybody does as well with today’s questions: here they are, along with the ‘How To’ and License

Q1) 17th April, 1969, saw who elected as Britain’s youngest female MP?

Q2) More to the point, which constituency did she represent?

Q3) Marking the formal introduction, 17th April, 1397, saw which famous book being read to the Court of Richard 2nd?

Q4) Just as too the point, who was the author of that work?

Q5) 17th April, 1986, saw the formal end of the Three Hundred and Thirty-Five year war between the Netherlands … and where?

Q6) 17th April, 1923, saw the birth of director, Lindsay Anderson: which Malcolm McDowell film is his best remembered?

Q7) And finally … 17th April, 1961, saw the start of the notorious Bay of Pigs invasion: where was this an invasion of?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 16th April, 73 AD, saw the end of the Jewish Revolt, with the end of the Siege of where … ?
A1) Masada.

Q2) Which Scottish battle took place on 16th April, 1746?
A2) The Battle of Culloden. (Sorry, Andy. But can I point to Q3 and Q4 as some sort of compensation … ?)

Q3) 16th April, 1947, saw the birth of singer/songwriter, Gerry Rafferty: what was the name of his first band?
A3) The Humblebums.

Q4) More to the point, which Scottish comedian did Gerry Rafferty form that band with?
A4) Billy Connelly.

Q5) And finally … 16th April, 1943, saw who discover that LSD was a hallucinogen?
A5) Dr Albert Hoffman. (Trevor, I loved that quote!)

Enjoy those, everyone. I’ll catch you later!

The droughte of March hath perced to the rote.

And of his port as meke as is a mayde.

He was a veray parfit gentil knight.

For gold in phisike is a cordial;
Therefore he loved gold in special.

He coude songes make, and wel endite.

Lines from The Canterbury Tales
