The Daily Teaser — 10-1-2015: Julius Caesar, Or, How To Win A War And Influence People …

Hmmm …

That’s funny.

I’ve managed to notice that a job in a local office, advertised in a local newsagent’s windows, yesterday.

And managed to jot down the URL for the post.

I think the advertisers may have taken the page down.

As what I actually got was a message telling there’d been an error, and the only way I could access it, was on a browser … on the computer system in the office that posted the ad.

Hmmm …

Yeah …

That went a bit pair shaped …

~≈Â≈~

At any rate, shall we move on … ?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring four out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video

Q1) 10th January saw Julius Caesar start the Roman Civil War: by crossing what: the Tiber, the Rubicon or the Po?
Q2) In which year was this: 50 BC, 49 BC or 48 BC?
Q3) As he crossed the river, Caesar said ‘Alea iacta est’.   ‘Alea iacta est’ means ‘The die is …’ what: cast, loaded or ignored?
Q4) Caesar had originally told Rome’s ruling body that he’d lay down his military command.   If who did: Marc Anthony, Pompey or Octavian?
Q5) What WAS Rome’s ruling body?
Q6) Caesar only led one legion over the river: the Legio XIII Gemina.   What did the XIII mean?
Q7) What was the legion’s symbol: an eagle, a lion or a elephant?
Q8) The legion would’ve had consisted of of a number of centuries: how many troops were in a century: eighty, ninety or one hundred?
Q9) During the war, which Egyptian pharaoh became an ally of Caesar’s?
Q10) Once the Civil War was over, Caesar was given which title: Dictator perpetuo, Princeps or Imperator?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 9th January, 2001, saw the first release of iTunes.   What’s the name of the Apple operated store that sells media usable with iTunes?
A1) The iTunes Store.
Q2) On a similar Apple themed vein, 9th January, 2007, saw Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, introduce which device?
A2) The iPhone.
Q3) 9th January, 1788, saw Connecticut become the fifth state to join the USA.   What’s the capital of Connecticut?
A3) Hartford.
Q4) 9th January, 1839, saw the French Academy of Sciences announce the invention of the Daguerreotype process.   The process was an early method for what: making records, taking photos or generating electricity?
Q5) Finally … 9th January, 1960, saw President Nasser of Egypt open construction of the Aswan Dam: by detonating ten tons of dynamite, and moving twenty tons of granite as a result.   On the east bank of which river?
A5) The Nile.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“It is not the well-fed long-haired man I fear, but the pale and the hungry looking.”

Words originally attributed to Caesar by Plutarch.
And this video …

Have a good day, folks.
