Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd September 2023.

22nd September, 2023.

Right …

I’m sorry if this is late …

But … ?

I updated iMovie, this morning … and then had to role it back with Time Machine.

I don’t know what Apple’s done — bar optimising it for Apple Silicon machines — but the results, sound wise?

Wasn’t something I found impressive.   (You’ll spot it in today’s intro.)

~≈⏰≈~

I’m thankful I know something.

That we have a date: for when those of us on Universal Credit receive the next Cost of Living payment.

Some point between 31st October and 19th November, this year.

The sooner the better, I think.

At any rate … ?

In a news piece, today, The Russell Trust — the charity that runs many food banks in the UK — makes a good point.

Basically?

Those cost of living payments really don’t last.

They’re not telling me anything I — and many others — don’t already know.

I can only hope someone in government’s listening to that.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Philander Chase is celebrated on 22nd September.   By an Episcopal Church, where: the USA, UK or the People’s Republic of China?

Q2)        The Iran-Iraq War started on 22nd September, 1980.   It ended in which year of the 1980s?

Q3)        The Independent Television Authority, or ITA, began broadcasting in the UK: on 22nd September, 1955. The TV network it ran is now known as what: BBC1, ITV or Sky Max?

Q4)        22nd September, 1979, saw a mysterious ‘double flash’ take place: near South African territory in the Indian Ocean.   The flash is believed to have been caused by what: a nuclear bomb test, a volcano or a meteor strike?

Q5)        Finally … ?   22nd September is Independence Day, where: Mali or Bulgaria?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        “Do you remember the 21st night of September” is a line from a song called “September”.   A song by whom: Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang or Chic?
A1)        Earth Wind and Fire.

Q2)        According to the United Nations, 21st September is the International Day of what.
A2)        Peace.

Q3)        21st September, 1955, saw the UK annex where: Rockall, Malin or the Hebrides?
A3)        Rockall.   (I only recognise the place from the Shipping Forecast. Cue the music)

Q4)        21st September is National Volunteer Day. Where: Gabon, Gambia or Ghana?
A4)        Ghana.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Armand Călinescu was murdered by fascists on 21st September, 1939.   He’d been Prime Minister of where: Hungary, Albania or Romania?
A5)        Romania.

Here’s a thought …
“In Germany, I have been called the Queen of Kitsch, but I don’t mind that — as long as people buy the books.”
Rosamunde Pilcher, 22 September 1924 – 6 February 2019.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I think the technical term is ‘police box’, Debbi!   :D   At any rate … ?   I’ve got very vague memories of spotting one, near the entrance of the Blackwall Tunnel: it was being used as an emergency phone box for the local fire service.
