Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28th February 2024.

28th February, 2024.

Right … … it’s Wednesday … !

Which frankly means I’ll be doing stuff.

Like … ?

Trying to sell my sister’s laptop!

I’ve had JUST enough cash to spend a little — a very little — on a Facebook Boost for it.

And I’ve listed it on Craigslist.

Hopefully, that will help.

As will listing it on Gumtree.

I’ll have to try and do that, today!

~≈Ï≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        “Goodbye, Farewell and Amen” aired on 28th February, 1983.   It was the last episode of what: M*A*S*H, Dallas or The Bold and the Beautiful?

Q2)        Gangster, Bugsy Siegal, was born on 28th February, 1906.   Was he a member of the Mafia?

Q3)        28th February is Andalusia Day.   What’s Andalusia’s capital?

Q4)        Harry H. Corbett was born on 28th February, 1925.   He played Ethel the Squire: in which Terry Gilliam film?

Q5)        Finally … ? Stephen Spender was born: on 28th February, 1909.   He was a what: poet, sculptor or painter?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        27th February is World NGO Day.   An NGO is a Non what Organisation?
A1)        Non-Government Organisation.   (By contrast, a quango is a quasi-autonomous non-government organisation.   It’s one of my favourite acronyms.)

Q2)        27th February is Marathi Language Pride Day.   The language is spoken, where: India, China or South Africa?
A2)        India.

Q3)        FC Bayern München was founded on 27th February, 1900.   The club is a German what: rugby club, football club or hockey club?
A3)        Football club.

Q4)        Leonard Nimoy died on 27th February, 2015.   He played Paris: in which series?
A4)        Mission: Impossible.

Q5)        Finally … ?   A bill passed its second reading in the House of Commons: on 27th February, 1953.   The bill was supposed to simplify what: the dating of Easter, English spelling or the Highway Code?
A5)        English spelling.

Here’s a thought …
“History is the ship carrying living memories to the future.”
Stephen Spender, 28 February 1909 – 16 July 1995.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I know what you mean, Olga!   Upset, distracted … or just plain inexperienced!   With my first scam email — supposedly from my bank! — it wasn’t ’til I thought to check sending email address, that I clicked.   I didn’t even notice it was addressed to ‘Dear Customer,’ at first!
Glad I could help!   And, yes, adult literacy’s an issue!   Hmmm … I don’t know how you’d factor in dyslexia, versus never having learnt to read: but that’s possibly a factor!

        Hello, Mum!

‡        I heard about it, Debbi: but never got to see it!   I’m going to have to see if I can check it out: it does sound like a clever idea!   The one Danny Boyle film I have kept on my shelves is 28 Days Later: which is fantastic!
        Wasn’t simplifying English Noah Wedster’s whole point … ?   Um …

Oh, JUST so you know, Olga?

I’ve had another potential buyer, this morning: who’s profile seemed very bare.

That’s something this report says to keep an eye open for.

(I’ve not given him my full address: just a postcode. I’ve also told him to contact me when he’s in the area …)

Q1) M*A*S*H

Q2) Siegel... Well, I’m not sure what to say. In theory, he had ties to the mafia, but he was Jewish and behind Murder, Inc... (If you had to be Italian, I guess not. Well, whatever. It’s proving a pretty challenging day today, as the door lock has gone and now we’re waiting for a replacement, so...)

Q3) Sevilla

Q4) Jabberwocky

Q5) poet
I hope you get some genuine interest. Sometimes it can be difficult, because people might not be familiar with the system or have just created an account to check something and don't normally use it, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
Yes, the dyslexia thing is interesting. I'm also thinking of people coming from abroad, who might know how to read in their language but not in Spanish, although in that case you will always be able to find translation sites (but if the language is very different, it must be as complicated as learning anew, I imagine).
