Sunday 14 April 2024

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April, 2024.

14th April, 2024.

Yay!   It’s Sunday!

Which, frankly, means it’s going to be quiet.

Which … you’d possibly already guessed.

Heigh ho!

Oh … I managed to catch the first episode of Criminal Record, last night.

The series is on AppleTV+, so you know: and caught my attention … because Peter Capaldi’s in it.

As it turns out?

The main character is played by an actress called Cush Jumbo.

Who — as it turned out — played Lois Habiba in Torchwood: Children of Earth*: the last time — to my knowledge — she and Capaldi worked together.

I knew I recognised her from somewhere!

At any rate … ?

The show’s interesting: and vaguely — very vaguely! — reminds me of The Silence of the Lambs.

With nastier sound effects!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum†, Olga‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        14th April is World what Day: World Neutron Day, World Quantum Day or World Astrophysics Day?

Q2)        According to the United Nations, 14th April is World Chagas Disease Day.   Chagas Disease is commonly spread by what: kissing bugs, dragon flies or ladybirds?

Q3)        14th April is Dhivehi Language Day.   The language is spoken, where: Sri Lanka, North Sentinel Island or the Maldives?

Q4)        14th April, 1912, saw a famous ship hit an iceberg.   Which ship: the RMS Olympic, the RMS Titanic or the HMHS Britanic?

Q5)        Finally … ?   14th April, 2023, saw the European Space Agency launch its JUICE mission.   The mission’s heading for the moons of which planet: Jupiter, Saturn or Neptune?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        13th April, 2023, saw the arrest of Jack Teixeira.   By whom: the FBI, CIA or KGB?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Teixeira is due to be sentenced in 2024. When in 2024: September, October or November?
A5)        September.
Here’s a thought …

“The real tragedy of my life is that my son, Jamie, is a Doctor Who fan.”
Gerry Anderson, 14 April 1929 – 26 December 2012.

A song …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I’ve said it before, and will no doubt say it again: Children of Earth was the best series the Dr Who franchise produced.   (Capaldi as Frobisher?   Was superb!   Frankly, it’s his best work in the franchise.)

        Hello, Mum!

‡        I’m glad you mention booking appointments, Olga!   I’ve only just booked up my next set of blood tests!   (I’m due a diabetic review in June: so I need to have a word with my GP about a few things.)
Either way, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

§        I’ll try and keep my eyes peeled for it, Debbi: I’ve added the UK version to my wish list.   (I might just have to sit down with Children of Earth, as well.   For my money?   That is STILL the best story the Dr Who franchise produced!)
