Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-7-2016

BLAST …

I didn’t get the job … !

As you may or may not know, I had an interview, on Wednesday: down in London.

Hell of a trip on the tube, I should add.

I got the email, back, yesterday: to tell me I’d not been chosen for a second interview, late last night.

Definitely upsetting, that: that was a definite blow to my self-esteem.

Frankly?

It’s a blow.   It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop looking for alternative employment.

But it’s a definite blow.

I had a bad day, yesterday.   I’ll happily admit that.

Frankly, though?

I don’t think I’ve had as bad a day as the town of Nice.

Early reports started coming in, last night.

It seems that a lone attacker drove a truck along the main sea-front, there: killing at least eighty-four people in the process.

I can only offer my condolences to those who’ve lost loved ones, there.

And my hope that these attacks can stop.

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 15th July, 1910, saw Emil Kraepelin give a name to which condition?
Q2) 15th July, 2014, saw a train derail.   On what: the London Underground, Moscow Metro or Vancouver Skytrain?
Q3) 15th July, 1099, saw the capture of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre: during the First Crusade.   The Church is in which Middle Eastern city?
Q4) 15th July, 1685, saw the execution of James Scott: for leading the Monmouth Rebellion.   Scott was 1st Duke of Monmouth: and where else?
Q5) Finally … Mount Bandai erupted: on 15th July, 1888.   The volcano is in which Asian nation?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 14th July is Bastille Day: the French national day.   It marks the storming of the Bastille: on 14th July of which year?
A1) 1789.
Q2) The Bastille, itself, was a fortress and prison: in which French city?
A2) Paris.
Q3) The Storming, itself, took place, during the French … what?
Q4) That event overthrew the French king.   Who WAS that king?
Q5) Finally … France has traditionally held a military parade on Bastille Day: on the Champs-Élysées.   It started, when: 1879, 1880 or 1881?
A5) 1880.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I hate having to read the manual.”
Trevor Horn, born 15th July, 1949.
This tune …

And this thought …

Vive la France … !

*        Hang on, Olga, there’s jokes in German?   The mind boggles!   (He says, with apologies to his German readers!)   At any rate … ?   At any rate, I didn’t get the job: which is extremely disappointing. None the less, I’ll be able to pick myself up, and keep carrying on.

†        Vive la France, indeed, Debbi.   Have you seen the news?   Bastille Day was a bad one for Nice!
