Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th April, 2018

29th April, 2018.

You know …

I have a long day ahead of me, today.

Frankly?

I’ll be starting at eleven, finishing at seven, and getting home by eight.

All this … ?   After getting up at six.

And that’s before you factor in the fact … that I don’t stop until next Sunday!

Given the amount of deductions I get from my wage slip?

I really don’t expect much of the earnings to survive.

But at least I’m working towards paying off all sort of debt.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 29th April, 2015, saw the official lowest attendance at a baseball game: as zero people turned up.   Name either of the teams playing.
Q2) 29th April, 1993, saw the Queen announce that — in order to raise funds to repair Windsor Castle — which Palace would be opened to the public?
Q3) 29th April, 1901, saw the birth of Hirohito: who later became Japanese Emperor.   These days, most Japanese would refer to him as Emperor … what?
Q4) 29th April, 1899, saw the birth of jazzman, Duke Ellington.   His band found fame in which Harlem venue?
Q5) Finally … 29th April, 1966, saw the birth of sportsman, Phil Tufnell.   What sport did he play?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 28th April, 1986, saw Soviet Russia admit there’d been an accident: at which site?
Q2) More to the point, that site is in a town called Pripyat: in what’s now which country?
A2) The Ukraine.   (There’s an ok, if bland, film set in the town, post blast.)
Q3) Italian partisans killed the dictator of Italy: on 28th April, 1945.   Who WAS that dictator?
Q4) A monk called Nichiren propose chanting the phrase ‘Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō’ was a way of saving a soul: on 28th April, 1253.   As a result he founded a Japanese school of which religion?
A4) Buddhism.
Q5) Finally … Which Pink Floyd album reached number on on the US charts: on 28th April, 1973?
Here’s a thought …
“You don’t merely give over your creativity to making a film—you give over your life! In theatre, by contrast, you live these two rather strange lives simultaneously; you have no option but to confront the mould on last night’s washing-up.”
Daniel Day-Lewis, Born 29 April 1957.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Yep, it’s seasonal — ish — Olga.   We tend to get a lot of boiler repairs across the year, for example.   BUT … most of the social landlords we work with, will only let us send out repair crews for those they define as vulnerable, during summer.   And have slightly different definitions of who’s vulnerable, and when summer is.   (They all agree the elderly are vulnerable, for example: but some say you’re elderly if you’re over 65, others will say you’re elderly if you’re over 75!).  And yes: co-ordination between offices is tricky, I know that from work.   But, BOY, it sounds like that company’s got a big issue, there.

†        Oh, HECK, cleaning!   I know I’m going to have issues with something, Debbi!   Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to hire someone!   Although, with MY luck, I’ll get Winston Wolf …

Yes. I can imagine. I just wondered if you would get more calls and need more staff at some points of the year than others (probably winter, but yes, different seasons have different issues). Indeed, I agree. I did send an e-mail to the person I had dealt with about the whole mess, but I'll wait until after the delivery to make more of a noise. Here the 1st of May is a holiday, so some people might have tomorrow off. I just hope the lorry can get here OK... (the refurbishment on the building's entry has not been completed after the problems on Friday, so it might be a big of a squeeze...)
I hope the day is not too strenuous on top of long.
