Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th July, 2018

15th July, 2018.

Right, then … it’s a Sunday …

Which you’d possibly guessed.

Which means … ?

Well, frankly, dinner at my family’s, and finding out what my nephew, Jude, has been up to.

Oh …

And try and get some laundry done!

It might JUST pay me to put a few things on the airer, as well …

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga and Debbi putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 15th July, 2017, saw the death of actor, Martin Landau.   In which series did he play Rollin Hand … ?
Q2) 15th July, 70AD saw a Roman army breach the walls of Jerusalem.   The army was led by whom?
Q3) The Mozilla Foundation formed on 15th July, 2003.   It’s best known products — the Firefox web browser — is what: open source, closed source or curry source?
Q4) What religious organisation was disbanded on 15th July, 1834?
Q5) Finally, and during the First Crusade?   15th July, 1099 saw a Crusader Army capture which Jerusalem landmark?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 14th July is THE French national holiday: Bastille Day.   It marks the day when a revolutionary mob stormed the fort: in which year?
A1) 1789.
Q2) The Bastille itself was in which French city?
A2) Paris.
Q3) Which French singer was born Jean-Philippe Léo Smet?
Q4) The Carolingian Cycle is the French equivalent to the various myths and legends about Britain’s King Arthur.   The Cycle’s ALSO know as the what of France?
A4) The Matter of France.
Q5) Finally … Nobles who opposed the French Revolution, and the storming of the Bastille, were said to have met Madame … who?
A5) Madame Gillotine.
Here’s a thought …
“I have done some films along the way that have been screwed up and not as good as they read. Some films that are not that good on the page turn into good movies. So I’m fallible is what I’m saying. It’s OK to be wrong. You learn from your wrongs. You don’t learn from being right. If you’re right, you already know it. If you’re wrong, it’s because you don’t know about it, and you made a mistake.”
RIP, Martin Landau, June 20, 1928–July 15, 2017.
As today’s the birthday of singer, Buggles frontman, Art of Noise co founder, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s producer, I give you …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I doubt we could get away with executing the Royal family, over here, Olga.   The souvenir makers would complain, for starters!   At ANY rate, I know the trailer will hit Youtube about five minutes after it airs.   It’s more of a technical challenge: can I 1) guess and tape the right bit of the three hour coverage, 2) rip it, 3) convert it into a form I can add to my collection.   I can do 2 and 3 … …

†        Did I mention the 1984 ad was directed by Ridley Scott, Debbi?   And the girl in it, with the hammer?   ALSO cropped up as Nikita, in the video for the Elton John song?   Oh, and the music for the Get a Mac ads was written by a chap called Mark Mothersbaugh: better known as one of the founders of Devo.   (Is it just me that thinks Devo are ever-so-slightly odd … )

Q1) Mission: Impossible
Q2) Titus
Q3) Open source
Q4) The Spanish Inquisition
Q5) the Church of the Holy Sepulchre
I know what you mean about souvenirs, although there's always something new to sell. Here there was a demonstration asking to get the independent politicians in prison free, and they were selling plenty of things for that (fans, shirts, little yellow ribbons, caps, bracelets, necklaces, flags...)
Let me know if you succeeded on the video front (I remember leaving the VHS programmed to record an episode of Twin Peaks many years ago, and there was a delay for some reason, so I only recorded the beginning of it. And at the time it was a total disaster, as you had to wait until it came out or was shown again, and not so many +1 channels at the time!).
Enjoy your family Sunday!
