Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-12-2021: Saint Lucia

13th December, 2021.

Looking at that intro … ?

I have to admit: I think everyone with a copy of iMovie is possibly doing that Max Headroom stutter thing!

Ahem!

At any rate: I’ve got a phone meeting, today.

With my (new) caseworker from the Restart scheme.

Thankfully, it’s a phone meeting: I really can’t afford the trip to Chelmsford.

Saying that … ?

I think job hunting’s going to get interesting.

As the government’s COVID-19 guidelines has been updated: to remind us that we’re supposed to be working from home, where possible.

Does that mean we’re looking at another lockdown … ?

I don’t know.

If we ARE, I’d be happy about it … if the Government re-introduced the £20 uplift!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five, and Olga and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q2)        English is Saint Lucia’s official language.   Its vernacular language is Saint Lucian what: Creole, Pidgin or Sign Language?

Q3)        Saint Lucia is made up of ten districts.   Those districts were originally called what: Quarters, Hundreds or Divisions?

Q4)        Daren Sammy is from Saint Lucia.   He plays what, internationally: Football, Rugby Union or Cricket?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Saint Lucia became independent from the UK in which year of the 1970s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The UN Security Council passed Resolution 121 on 12th December, 1956.   The Resolution allowed whom to join the UN: China, Japan or Vietnam?
A1)        Japan.

Q2)        12th December is Constitution Day.   Where: Russia, China or the UK?
A2)        Russia.   It marks when Russia’s new Constitution went into force in 1993.   (I get the impression China keeps re-writing its constitution.   The UK’s famously unwritten constitution is unwritten.   Well … it’s written: just not in one document …)

Q3)        12th December, 1945, saw the birth of Portia Simpson Miller, the first female Prime Minister of where: Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago or St. Lucia?
A3)        Jamaica.

Q4)        The Paris Agreement was adopted at a 2015 conference: on 12th December, 2015.   The Agreement was designed to slow down what: climate change, cyber-warfare or people trafficking?
A4)        Climate change.

Q5)        Finally … ?   12th December, 1949, saw the birth of actor, Bill Nighy.   Who did he voice in the 2005, UK version, of The Magic Roundabout: Doogal, Zebedee or Dylan?
A5)        Dylan.
Here’s a motto …
“The Land, The People, The Light.”
Saint Lucia’s motto.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I hope that renter sticks around, Olga!
Oh, editing!   Tell me about editing!   Just cataloguing footage is something!
An owl might find some of the rats around here, a bit much, Olga!   And I don’t know WHERE I’d put it!   It’s similar with a cat.   Much as I’d love one?   I couldn’t afford the vet bills!
Saying that … ?   I think I’ve mentioned that an old family friend runs a company that does animal experiences — snake handling, iguanas, what have you — and has owls.   I’ll HAVE to ask!

Hello, Mum!   Does Ben loan his owls out?

Well, yes, that’s the other term, Debbi!   Oh, by the way: Channel 4’s doing this …

Good luck with the call and let's see how things go. It's all looking very uncertain at the moment, on the COVID front. We have the radio supper this Friday, and on Sunday I'm volunteering at a big yearly event organized here to collect money for health issues (this year mental health), so I'll be assisting the people who take the calls from donors (last time I was manning the phones, but that was before the pandemic), so we shall see...
Love the pic with the owl. I won't enquire as to the experiments...
