Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-2-2025 — Super Bowl 59

9th February, 2025: Super Bowl 59.

Right, it’s Sunday … !

And, in the background, Edward Stourton, is presenter Radio 4’s usual Sunday show.

Whilst I’m not especially religious?

It’s nice to have the thing on: and hear about some of the good religious groups are capable of.

~≈🙏≈~

I’m still working on a review: wouldn’t you know it?

Hopefully?

I’ll have that finished, by tonight.

All that’s needed?

Is a brief discussion of the state of blu-ray distribution!

Ho-hum!

~≈🎦≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Super Bowl 59 is held, today: on 9th February, 2025.   In which US city?

Q2)        It’s being held in which stadium: the Superdome, Smoothie King Center or the Pan American Stadium?

Q3)        The ‘59’ in this year’s game is written ‘LIX’.   In other words, in what: Roman numerals, Arabic numerals or Mayan numerals?

Q4)        At the time of writing?   At the time of writing, which rapper is due to headline Superbowl 59’s halftime show: Grandmaster Melle Mel, Dizzy Rascal or Kendrick Lamar?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Super Bowl 59 is the championship … in which American sport?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        8th February saw the debut of The Birth of a Nation.   In which year: 1913, 1915 or 1917?
A1)        1915.

Q2)        It debuted in which US city: New York, Chicago or Los Angeles?
A2)        Los Angeles.

Q3)        Who directed the film: D. W. Griffith, F. W. de Klerk or F. W. Murnau?
A3)        D. W. Griffith.

Q4)        The film was based on as 1905 novel and play.   Called The what?
A4)        The Clansman.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The film portrayed which hate group: the Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan or Combat 18?
A5)        Ku Klux Klan: also known as the Triple K, or the KKK.
Here’s a thought …
“Super Bowl LIX is scheduled to be televised in English by Fox.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the game.
And a wardrobe malfunction …

The next ten question set is on 19th February: it’s about EastEnders.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

†        I’ll be honest, Olga, I think that January showing may have been a test screening: something film companies still do, today.   (From what I’ve read, Blade Runner two such screenings, some three months ahead of the official release.   Which means there’s some seven different versions!)
Yeah … the Triple K ….  I’ve just had a look at the Wikipedia entry for David Duke, the Neo-Nazi, former Klansman, who endorsed Trump back in 2015.   He backed the Green candidate in 2024: over “Trump’s subservience to the Jewish lobby.”   The Greens for denouncing him!
I can still remember seeing 2001: A Space Oddysey at Brentwood Cinema: that had an intermission, as well.   That looks odd these days: but I still remember the dinky tubs of ice cream§ …

‡        Oh, it really is local, Debbi!   That saves on jet fuel!
If I remember correctly, Debbi, the Triple K’s name is supposed to sound like a gun being cocked¶!
I’d keep hold of that printout, Debbi: I think that Wikipedia page has long since come down.   The place is mentioned in the entry on SOE establishments.

§        Brentwood Cinema had a similar sweet stall by the ticket office, Olga.   I can guarantee you, by the time it got to the intermission, they’d’ve run out of chocolate-coated raisins.   I loved chocolate-coated raisins.   (They used to be nicknamed rabbit poo …)

It’s a similar thing, Debbi, with Zang-Tum-Tumb: Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s label.   That’s supposed to be the sound of a machine gun being fired!   Oh, there’s a ZTT themed earworm …

Lovely. They had different drinks in the bar inside and at the stall, so I used to go to the stall if I fancied a drink at the half time. I'm not much of an ice-cream person, especially at the cinema. (It isn't usual here. Popcorn yes, but not ice-cream, or at the theatre either).
