I’ve FINALLY worked out what I want for Christmas; it’s just a shame nobody who’s likely to buy me stuff can afford it!
Apple have announced the new model’s of Mac’s, today, and guess what …
They’ve SERIOUSLY upped the Mini, by doing a Server version!
Now, I’ll be serious, here, I really wouldn’t know what to do with a server, if I had one.
Well …
There’s probably a few ideas, given ten minutes, a pencil, and a quick natter with Movie Night Adrian, who genuinely knows his stuff when it comes to the ’net.
But here’s my point; off bat, I’d not have a use for a Mac Mini with 5 USB ports, a Firewire 800 port, capable of dealing with two monitors, and two — TWO — 500 gigabyte hard drives.
That’s one whole Terabyte*!
Honestly, I wouldn’t.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t WANT one!
Oh, Boy!
* Right, now I know Tim, and a few other friends of mine, wouldn’t have the first idea, there; but just to give you a rough — very rough — idea, one kilobyte is 1024 characters. 1024 of them makes up a megabyte, which is about minute’s worth of music. 1024 megabytes make up a gigabyte; most commercial DVD’s are between four and seven gigabytes in size, depending on what’s on them. The hard drive on my 2007 model Mini is 120 gigabytes, so you know. The newer models are bigger!! And I want one!
