Oh, Heck, the IDIOTS are in the Local News, again … !

You know, that’s either worrying, alarming, or annoying, news in this week’s Gazette.

That the BNP are planning to have a candidate stand, in Brentwood, in the up-coming Election.

I bloody well hope not!

I really do.

I’m left wing enough to not want to vote for an outright bunch of idiots like them, I really am.

And honest enough to admit that any airtime, or column inches they get — including on here — is bloody annoying.

I really take it as an affront!

At least, enough of one to raise the issue with the Gazette …
Dear Editor,
Once again, the spectre of the BNP raises its ugly head over the town of Brentwood.
And, given the expense row, their increasing support in the polls, and the fact our MP is Conservative Party chairman, somehow I’ve got to admit, I’m not surprised.
I, personally, don’t intend to vote for them; outright Fascism of this sort is really not to my taste: nor many of my friends.
But I am very uncomfortably aware that these people are building support, especially after Nick Griffins appearance on Question Time; something I refused to watch, as I didn’t want to give him airtime.
And I’m also very aware that politicians — local and otherwise — are failing to address many peoples feelings.
The state of Warley Hill is just a case in point, I’m thinking; let’s face it, the shopping area around Brentwood Station has been woefully neglected, in recent years. With the exception of housing and office developments — funded by development companies, rather than Brentwood Council — there has been little done to improve the area.
Given we’ve a new hotel on Warley Hill, and the BNP threatening to make a big splash in the area, I think a council that listens more to what people may be worried about could be a good thing.
Paul Downie.
Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar.

You couldn’t tell that was coming, could you?

Here’s hoping it gets printed!
