The Daily Teaser …

Don’t you just hate suddenly realising you’ve missed a day?

I know I do.

Usually I have the Teasers written anything up to a week in advance, depending on how busy the week’s been.

Except, when I opened up the Teasers for yesterday and today, I realised I’d I’d not written tomorrow’s. Which, when you consider I’ve written Monday to Wednesday of next week’s, already, is definitely me having a senior moment.

Actually, talking of all things Irish, what is Colcannon? Do you know?

I don’t …

Anyway, enough RAMBLING, already!

Let’s move on!

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor quietly taking advantage of Simon’s busy patch, by bagging 6 out of 6, and putting in some fantastic quotes. Let’s see what happens with today’s Teaser, shall we?

Here’s the questions, along with the ‘How To’ and License

Q1) 13th March, 1996, saw a lone gunman go on a shooting spree: in which small Scottish town?

Q2) 13th March, 1925: the Scopes Trial, in Tennessee, saw the teaching of what banned in the US state of Tennessee?

Q3) 13th March, 1939, saw the birth of which American singer-songwriter?

Q4) Nine years earlier*, 13th March, 1930, saw news of the discovery of what, telegraphed to the Harvard College Observatory?

Q5) And finally … 13th March, 1781, saw the discovery of Uranus: by whom?

And here’s yesterday’s question and answers …

Q1) 12th March, 1984, saw the start — in the UK — of a year-long strike … by who?
A1) Miners.

Q2) 12th March, 1933, saw the first ever ‘Fireside Chat’ … by whom?
A2) Franklin Delaney Roosevelt: this was the first of his addresses to the nation.

Q3) Three years earlier, 12th March, 1930, saw Mahatma Gandhi lead a 200-mile mile march in protest of the British monopoly of which product?
A3) Salt.

Q4) 12th March, 1969, saw which member of The Beatles get married?
A4) Paul McCartney.

Q5) More to the point, who did he get married to?
A5) Linda Eastman, as she was then.

Q6) And finally … 12th March, 1999, saw the death of violinist, Yehudi Menuhin: which Jazz violinist did Menuhin work with for many years?
A6) Stéphane Grappelli.

Enjoy those, everyone.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve some digging to do …

* Cheers, Trevor!
