The Daily Teaser …

You know I’m writing today’s Teaser with a mixture of tiredness, nervous … and a certain amount of pleasure, as well.

Tiredness, as I’m up early for an interview in Highgate.

Nervousness: for pretty much the same reason.

And pleasure, because yesterday’s Teaser got one heck of a response!

Bless her, I even had Angela put in a comment, to say how stumped she was!

Bless!

But let me tell me tell you the scores on the doors!

As has been the way, for the past few day’s we had Trevor bagging the Official First-In-Clap, but scoring four out of five: matching both Andrea and Elizabeth — going under the blog-name of Pink Fluff — who both got four points, as well.

We even had Jeb and @LoveGoldCoast — putting in under the name Xenaclone — managing to bag two points apiece: mostly, of course, because they’d both got the John Profumo/Christine Keeler conundrum that were questions 1 and 2, yesterday.

But the really winner?

Was Simon! With five point out of five!

Wowsa!

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the ‘How To’ and License

Q1) 23rd March, 1956, saw which country become the world’s first Islamic republic?

Q2) 23rd, March, 1982, saw President Ronald Reagan announce the Stategic Defense Initiative: how was this programme better known?

Q3) 23rd March, 1857, saw the first what installed in a New York tower block?

Q4) 23rd March, 1964, saw the death of actor Peter Lorre: which European country was he born in?

Q5) And finally … 23rd March, 1889, saw the first run of which Thames ferry service?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 22nd March, 1963, saw who deny having an affair with a model?
A1) The (then) Secretary of State for War, John Profumo.

Q2) More to the point, who was the model?
A2) Christine Keeler. (When told of the affair, then PM Harold MacMillan is supposed to have said “Oh, it could have been worse, it could’ve been an affair with another man!”)

Q3) Somewhat topical, this one: 22nd March, 2002, saw an anonymous appellant granted what in a case judged by the (now) Baroness Butler-Schloss?
A3) The Right to die.

Q4) 22nd March, 1888, saw the founding of which UK sporting body?
A4) The Football League.

Q5) And finally … 22nd March, 1958, saw the birth of Pete Wylie: with which Liverpudlian band did he find fame?
A5) The Mighty Wah! (Also variously known as Wah!, Say Wah!, JF Wah and Wah! The Mongrel. A HEM!)

Enjoy those, everyone.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get shifting. Wish me luck!
