Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 31-12-2016: The Review of 2016

You know …

I still want to go back to bed!

No, really!

The worrying thing?

Is that means I could miss the Amazon order that I’ve been expecting for the past few days: you’d THINK they’d’ve left it with a neighbour, wouldn’t you?

Especially as I’ve left instructions with them, saying that, for about eighteen months.

You’d think they’d get the hang of things, wouldn’t you?

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Muhammad Ali, Sir Terry Pratchett, Arnold Palmer, Prince, Peter Vaughan.   Who’s the odd one out?
Q2) David Bowie died this year.   What was the name of the last album he released, before his death?
Q3) Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck was born, this year.   He’s Heir Apparent to the throne of where?
Q4) The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter was launched in March.   By the European Space Agency, working with Roscosmos.   Roscosmos is which country’s space agency?
Q5) Several heads of state, celebrities, and politicians were found to have off shore accounts with Mossack Fonseca: an only slightly iffy company in which American country?

Q11) Who received the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature?
Q12) And finally … Who was named as BBC Sports Personality of the years, in 2016?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 30th December, 1922, saw the formal founding of the USSR: Soviet Russia, in other words.   What is a soviet: a type of cheese, a council or a trade union?
A1) A council.
Q2) Which singer was arrested on drink-driving charges: on 30th December, 2002?
Q3) Gas detectors were introduced in UK coal mines: on 30th December, 1986.   What did they replace: cats, terriers or canaries?
A3) Canaries.

A4) The War of the Roses.
Q5) Finally … 30th December, 1920, saw the birth of actor, Jack Lord.   The Hawaii Five-0 actor played which James Bond character?
I’ll leave you with a thought from one of the people we’ve lost, this years …
“Condemn me, it does not matter: history will absolve me.”
Fidel Castro, August 13, 1926 – November 25, 2016.
One of the year’s biggest selling songs …

And … ?

A song from David Bowie …

Happy new year …

*        2016 just keeps taking, Olga‡: in Spanish, and English!   At any rate, thanks for the Neon Demon comment: that’s definitely and odd film!   (Lord knows why it got me thinking of Eraserhead, but there you go … )

†        Well, I can see you making good use of that Touch Bar, Debbi‡^: looks handy!   Not sure which one I’d go for, given the money: but I’d want to go for one with on of the solid state drives, rather than a fusion or regular hard Drive.   I know they’re smaller: but the reports I’ve heard say the laptops are significantly faster as a result.   (Here’s Apple’s US comparison site)

‡        I HAVE to ask you both, ladies … have a look at the video for Lazarus.   I don’t know if Bowie was left handed: he played guitar right-handedly.   But I’m wondering if he was a southpaw, going on one or two scenes … ?

^        You can drag and drop icons to it, as well …
