7th January, 2025: John the Forerunner.
Right … it’s officially Tuesday … and Radio 4’s Today programme has a piece on, about the way McDonald’s staff are being treated.
It’s an on-going thing for the company: some of its franchise managers make Harvey Weinstein look good!
That’s certainly not making the company look good!
But that’s not really relevant to my day.
It’s a day where I have nothing planned: and I’m feeling vaguely lost.
After all, the past couple of weeks have been busy … !
~≈🎅🏻≈~
At any rate … ?
Yesterday was Monday: a day that saw me at the dentist in the afternoon … and at my weight management meeting in the morning!
Thankfully?
I’m down four hundred grams: just shy of a pound.
That’s pretty good: post Christmas!
~≈🏋️♂️≈~
As a final thought … ?
You’re possibly aware I claim an extra benefit: called Personal Independence Payment, or PIP.
I had thought I’d be eligible for a free bus pass as a result.
After a phone call, yesterday … ?
It turns up I’m not.
I don’t have enough points in the relevant section of my claim.
That’s a bit of a git: free bus travel could’ve been helpful.

Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s [insert number here] questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“Followers of John existed well into the 2nd century AD, and some proclaimed him to be the Messiah awaited by Jews.”From the Wikipedia entry on John.
And a song …
The next ten question set will be tomorrow: it’s about Elvis Presley.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello, Mum! (Tomorrow’s quiz is about Elvis!)
† Oh, O’Neill wrote Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Olga? I only vaguely knew it was a play: but not who wrote it, or what it was about. But I always felt it was an evocative phrase.
I knew the name was Irish, though: I believe the ‘O’ is short for ‘of’: and tells us the family is descended from a Neill. (We have a neighbour called ‘O’Neill’: she’s definitely an Essex girl, though. And we had an Irish-themed bar called ‘O’Neill’s Bar’, in the High Street. It was about as Irish as the Turkish restaurant next door.)
‡ Google’s eaten them you mean? I’m surprised, Debbi, that hasn’t happened for a while!
Hang on, Debbi, what do you mean, ‘… going nuts’? I think it went bonkers a while ago. Just after the Big Bang …

Yes, it is a great title, and the play is pretty good (Long Day's Journey, I mean). It's supposed to be somewhat autobiographical, I believe. I watched a production in London with Jessica Lange playing the character of the mother. It was quite a performance.
At least, I wasn't around for that.
I'm not that old! :)
