The Daily Teaser …

Bloody hell, yesterday was a day for it!

Me ALMOST giving away today’s answer didn’t compare with the fact Allison managed to have a crash.

Well, more like a serious skid, which could’ve turned into a crash.

Rain and wet roads are not good, if you’re on two wheels!

She’s seemed ok, last night, bar the (obvious) shock, and we had some good advice from Vicks, an old friend of mine who’s a qualified First Aider and Saint John’s Ambulance-woman …

But I’m hoping she can get in to see a doctor!

•••••

Let’s move on, shall we?

Shall we?

Yes, lets …

Here — after yesterday’s almost cock-up — is today’s questions …

Q1) Today in 1979, saw the Provisional IRA kill whom?

Q2) A few years earlier, August 27th, 1896, saw the world’s shortest war, between the UK and Zanzibar; how long did it last?

Q3) August 27th saw the BBC transmit its first pictures across the Channel; in which year of the 1950s?

Q4) Today in 1962, NASA launched the Mariner 2 probe; which planet was it heading to?

Q5) And finally, today in 1967, saw the death of Brian Epstein; which iconic British band was he the manager of?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) August 26th, 55BC, saw England invaded by the Romans; who lead the Roman forces?

A1) Julius Cæser.

Q2) On a related note, what was that leader’s first name?

A2) Gaius.

Q3) August 26th, 1768, saw the HMS Endeavor set sail on a voyage of exploration to the southern hemisphere; who was its commanding officer?

A3) Captain James Cook. (Although he was, only a Lieutenant at the time.)

Q4) Today in 1946, saw the birth of composer Mark Snow; which TV series — about members of the FBI — did he write the theme tune for?

A4) “The X Files”.

Q5) And finally, today in 1994, saw an unnamed 62-year-old patient receive the worlds first bionic heart; at which British hospital?

A5) Papworth.

Enjoy those!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go off and worry
