Hmmm … Well … THAT worked!

Something I’m surprised about — but possibly shouldn’t be — is how relatively easy it was to transfer songs from the Mini — with a copy of iTunes 8.2.1 — to the vintage iMac, running a version of iTunes 2.x.x.

Quite a difference, I’m sure you’ll agree.

It’s something I wasn’t too sure would work; and I’m not sure would work, trying to get the same songs from the Mini to the Performa; which, of course, is both three years older than the iMac, and has no version of iTunes, what so ever.

Hmmm … I wonder …

Possibly something to try. In the morning …

Definitely in the morning!

But — and however functionally different the two versions are — it’s nice to know I’ve a functioning media centre … ok … Stereo … in my bedroom.

Does that sound a touch sleazy?

Allison?

Anyone?

But I do know I think I prefer the look of iTunes 2.x.

The first version of OS X I got hold of was a version of Tiger, which came with iTunes 6.x.

And a heck of a lot of brushed metal windows!

And, as cool as the current version is, I kinda miss the styling in both OS 9 and Tiger

Cie la Vie …

But at least I know I can copy songs from OS X 10.5.x to Mac OS 9.2.2, and be reassured of them playing.

That’s a thing, do you remember me mentioning a friend of mine, called Kelly?

Bit of a singer, our Kelly.

(And not a bad one, either. Vix, who did the artwork for the Quizzes, sang, as well, and quite well, too; but where Vix had the kind of voice you settle down and marry, Kelly, bless her, has the sort of voice that’s upside down, on a pole, somewhere. Or dancing on a table … Why do I get the feeling I’m being looked at … ?)

At any rate, Kelly’s been known to get on stage at various open mic nights, and let rip; and, as part of that, asked me if I could throw together some ideas, for songs she could do. Telling me, while she did so, that she wasn’t too worried about whether the material concerned had been written for men, or women. She’d play it by ear, and wangle something … !

So this is the list I put together for her; whether it’s of any use, I don’t know, but its enough of an mix, I think, to get someone’s attention … possibly …

Ghosts Japan
History Repeating Shirley Bassey
Absolute Beginners (Single Version) David Bowie
Cry Me A River Julie London
That Ole Devil Called Love Alison Moyet
I Put a Spell On You Nina Simone
Will You? Hazel O’Connor
In These Shoes? Kirsty MacColl
Don't Leave Me This Way The Communards
Drop Dead Gorgeous Republica
I Don’t Want A Lover Texas
Cowboys & Kisses Anastasia
Return to the Valley of Out Come the Freaks Was (Not Was)
How the Heart Behaves Was (Not Was)

Hmmm …

Oddball?

Possibly.

But hopefully ear-catching; and I’m thinking that the two Was (Not Was) tunes, at the end will probably match that voice of her’s, given that they’re both numbers usually sung not by the Was’ regular singer — behatted ultra dude, Sweet Pea Atkinson — but by Was (Not Was)’s more Curtis Mayfieldesque other lead singer, Harry Bowens.

MUCH more the thing, I think!
