A Poster, A Post, My Kingdom for A … … look, you get the idea ……!

Hmmm …

Well, ok, it’s ANOTHER post about Ubuntu

I know, I am maybe repeating myself, possibly, there, but I do like to have something to write!!

And I think I have a minor point, here, that the Brasero disc burning software built into this version of the OS — 9.04, otherwise known as Jaunty Jackalope — seems to be slightly — but only slightly — more reliable than OS X’s on-board Disc Utility.

And, although Brasero verifies the MD5 checksum as part of the burning process, I’m none too sure if Ubuntu has anything that parallels Disc Utility’s ability to let you check it yourself.

But I have been able to take advantage Brasero’s reliability to burn off a few copies of Ubuntu, to pass around to various friends.

I figure that’s the best way of spreading around the goodies …

I’ve also got to admit, I’ve managed to get in touch with Sara Bartleman, our estate’s Housing Officer, about the much discussed parking permits.

One of the neighbours had raised the nasty point that we’d have to head for Billericay to pick those up, if we hadn’t been able to get to the scheduled pick-up, last Tuesday.

One of my other neighbours had got rather critical about my not picking mine up. As I said to him, not long after, it isn’t always possible to change shifts, to do this sort of stuff; unless he’d’ve been willing to pick them up for me, or take in a delivery for me.

Local politics, eh?

But as it goes, Sara is tottering down to hand deliver to those of us who weren’t able to get there.

Now THAT’S a result!!

Oh, and just as a thought, ITV4 is showing “Screamers”.

Screamers”!

SOMEBODY really must be stretching the budget …

And, yes, Adrian, there really IS nothing else on … !

Paul..
I can understand some of the negative reactions you are getting about the issue of collecting your parking permits.
To be fair I should imagine most of the residents collecting permit at the arranged time would have been at work that day and still made time to turn up regardless of their start or finish times.
I know you could have attended because you finished work at 18:30 hrs that night by your own admission giving you a good hour to get to the venue, which is only a 10 minute walk at most from the station.
Yes I know Sara said she would deliver them and that changed, but it changed for all of us, but those that attended adapted to the new situation because this parking scheme will make things better for us all and that was what was required to take it forward.
Of course some residents couldn't make it and would need their permits delivered, but I don't think you were one of them!
This entry on the blog is unlikely to mend any bridges with those who have tried to improve things on the estate, and continues the confusing and muddled criticisms of those efforts.
