The Daily Teaser — 23-11-2013: The Fiftieth Anniversary Dr Who Teaser

You know, life’s a git, sometimes.

It’s officially the fiftieth anniversary of Dr Who, today: something I think most science-fiction fans will have noticed.

And my landlords, Circle Housing South Anglia have STILL not fixed my building’s communal aerial.

I will give Sara Poole and Stuart Clarke — our landlords representatives to socially housed and part-buy residents in the building — for putting in a lot of effort trying to arrange the repair.

But the organisation as a whole seems to have seriously dropped the ball: especially given the fact that the scaffolders who’d initially turned up on Thursday, hadn’t been given enough scaffolding.

Either way?   Either way, I hope that the repair’s done successfully on Monday.   But feel it doesn’t necessarily make up for the loss of a public service all of us pay towards.

Anyway … onwards and upwards …

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and, along with letting us know she’d loved yesterday’s video, also scoring nine out of ten.

Enjoy those.

I’ll leave you with these thoughts from the first three Doctors …
“The moment this brilliant young producer Miss Verity Lambert started telling me about Doctor Who, I was hooked. I remember telling her, ‘This is going to run for five years.’ And look what’s happened!”
William Hartnell, 8 January 1908 – 23 April 1975.
“I believed totally in the possibilities implied in the series. I never thought of it as fantasy. Far from it.”
Patrick Troughton, 25 March 1920 – 28 March 1987.
“The tattoos were a little mistake from younger and more foolish days. I always thought it was quite amusing to have the Third Doctor, who was so pre-occupied with being the archetypal gentleman, displaying a nice big piece of arm adornment – and nobody said anything when filming, so they were seen on screen.”
Jon Pertwee, 7 July 1919 – 20 May 1996.
And with these three tunes …

And remember: #savetheday … !

*        It was amazingly lifelike, I know that, Debbi: I think there’s a reconstruction of some of the earlier episodes on the BBC’s main site, using the actors from An Adventure In Space And Time.   Oh, and Seconds is from the Human League’s Dare album.   It’s a bit like Born In The USA, Architecture and Morality or Transformer: if you’ve got a Bruce Springsteen, OMD or Lou Reed album, it’ll be one of those.

As a kid I used to find the beginning theme scary. I was such a wimp.

It’s STILL one of the iconic bits of TV music, isn’t it, Alys … ?

I grew up up on it: and was never scared, so much: as excited … ! :D
