The Daily Teaser — 3-11-2015

Did I tell you I’ve a nephew called Jude?

I’ve got a nephew called Jude: coming up for five, this year.

And … ?   Well, test, I, he, and his mother — my kid sister, Ruth — went to see Hotel Transylvania 2.

Which is … entertaining, I should add.

Frankly, though … ?   I think Jude enjoyed the balloon we managed to pick up, afterwards, in the Basildon branch of Frankie and Benny.

That … and show-boating for the cameras … !

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser was a quiet one: with no-one putting in their answers.

So let’s see who we can persuade to try today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 3rd November, 1783, saw the public hanging of highwayman, John Austin.   This was the last public hanging at which London gallows?
Q2) A solar eclipse was visible in parts of Europe, Africa and North and South America: on 3rd November, 2013.   Solar eclipses — seen from Earth — occur when when what body passes between the Sun and Earth?
Q3) More to the point, where would you be, if you were watching the Earth pass between you and the sun?
Q4) One, World Trade Center opened: on the 3rd November, 2014.   Built as a replacement for the buildings destroyed in the 9/11 attacks, it’s been informally dubbed the what tower?
Q5) Dominica became independent: on the 3rd November, 1978.   From where?
Q6) More to the point, is Dominica ALSO the Dominican Republic?
Q7) Finally … 3rd November, 1838, saw the debut issue released, of the world’s mostly widely circulated English language newspaper.   Which paper is it?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 2nd November is Statehood Day in two US states.   Name either.
A1) North Dakota and South Dakota.
Q2) David Jacobsen, an American hostage, was released on 2nd November, 1986.   He’d been held hostage in which Middle Eastern city: Damascus, Beirut or Jerusalem?
A2) Beirut.
Q3) During the 2nd Boer War, Boer forces began besieging where, on 2nd November, 1899?
A3) Ladysmith.
Q4) Haile Selassie was crowned as Ethiopian Emperor: on 2nd November, of which year?
A4) 1930.
Q5) Finally … 2nd November, 1982, saw the launch of which UK TV channel?
A5) Channel 4.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“The day I worry about cleaning my house is the day Sears comes out with a riding vacuum cleaner.”
Roseanne Barr, born 3rd November, 1952.
And this tune* …

Have a good day …

*        Today is Adam Ant’s birthday: which is why I ALSO went for an Adam and the Ants tune.   It’s ALSO Lulu’s birthday: as she made a cameo appearance in the video for Ant Rap … ?   It seemed the appropriate tune to use.
