Yes!
It’s officially official … the back door of my building is shut.
Like you couldn’t work that out from the video introduction.
Basically?
I and three of my neighbours have keys to the back door of our building.
So we can get to our gas meters.
Only one of my neighbours has forgotten hers … and had to borrow mine, is the gas man could get to the meters.
Hooooo … hum … !
At any rate … ?
At any rate, it’s a Friday night: and, with little to nothing in the way of money … ?
I put the TV on, once more: turn to the channel with …

Episode 9 — Project Daedalus — open with a flashback: the augmented Lieutenant Commander Airiam (Hannah Cheeseman) is clearing memories out: including one that shows her and her (I assume) fiancee heading home.
Airiam’s reverie?
Is interrupted by Ensign Tilly (Mary Wiseman): the pair are need on the bridge: to help decode the data taken from the giant sphere.

Meanwhile … ?
Meanwhile Michael (Sonequa Martin-Green) is dealing with Spock (Ethan Peck): and believes that getting him in touch with good ol’ fashioned Vulcan logic is THE way to help him figure out why the Red Angel got in touch with him.
All this happening … ?
After the ship has been joined by Admiral Cornwell (Jayne Brook).
The Admiral has a job for the Discovery.
One that means finding the hidden base used … by Section 31.
Ever get the feeling it’s going to be a rough ride … ?

Now …
Good, bad or indifferent … ?
Actually?
Rather good.
The last few episodes … have been fun … but not necessary good.
Frankly? They’ve been outdone by the other series I’m watching, El Ministerio del Tiempo*.
Tonight’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery was one HELL of an improvement over its immediate predecessors.
There’s action, tension, drama … and genuine emotion, from start to finish, in the hints of back story for Lt. Cdr. Airiam.
AND in her eventual death.
There’s one other thing …
This episode was directed by veteran Star Trek cast member/director, Jonathon Frakes.
I just hope they get him to do a few more episodes.
His experience with the franchise, really does show in this episode.
* Which, I have to say, I love. Right at the moment? We have the classic three heroes in place, Amelia, Alonso† and Julián: played by Aura Garrido, Nacho Fresnada and Rodolfo Sanchez, respectively.
† Alonso, I should add, is a 17th Spanish Tercio: the then equivalent of — I’m no expert, here — something like Parachute Regiment. A bloody tough bunch. At one point in the first series, he refers to the group as Strength and Honour: in line with his era’s habit of giving squads suitably inspiring names. I’ve kept thinking of the gang as Strength and Honour, ever since.
