Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th February, 2021.

10th February, 2021.

Right …

It’s still cold out: as cold as a very cold day in Essex.

A day so cold that freezing cold people will say “Isn’t it cold?”

A day cold enough to …

You get my point!

At ANY rate … ?

Given the freezing weather?

I thought it would be a good idea to check if I’d get the Cold Weather payment that’s available for people on Universal Credit.

Apparently, I am: at least for the period from the 6th to the 12th of February, this year.

And, of course, when I try to log into my Universal Credit account, to find out when and how it’s paid?

I get this …

OK … the site’s back up: bu that was a hairy moment.

We’ll have to see what happens with any extra cash.

~≈‡≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Olga†, Mum‡, Debbi^ and Edithª putting in their answers: with Trevor, Olga and Debbi on five out of five, Mum own four and Edith on one.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        The pianist for the Original New Orlean’s Jazz Band was born: on 10th February, 1893.   Who was that pianist: Fats Domino, Jimmy Durante or Tom Lehrer?

Q2)        Laura Dern was born: on 10th February, 1967.   In which 1986 film does she play Diana Adams?

Q3)        10th February, 1898, saw the birth of playwright, Bertolt Brecht.   His The Threepenny Opera had its UK debut in which year of the 1950s?

Q4)        New Delhi was named as capitol: on 10th February, 1931.   Capital of where?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The 25th Amendment to the US Constitution was adopted on 10th February, 1967.   According to that amendment, who becomes President, if the current holder dies in office?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The last appearance of Halley’s Comet in the Inner Solar system took place: on 9th February of which year of the 1980s?
A1)        1986.

Q2)        The comet’s next due to appear in which year of the 2060s?
A2)        2061.

Q3)        The Comet’s official designation is 1 what/Halley: P, B or G?
A3)        1P/Halley.

Q4)        The Comet is named after astronomer, Edmond Halley.   He’d worked out the length of its orbit in which year: 1705, 1706 or 1707?
A4)        1705.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The comet appeared in 1066: before the Norman invasion of England.   It’s on the Bayeux what as a result: Tapestry, Embroidery or Blanket?
A5)        Bayeux Tapestry.
Here’s a thought …
‘Only individuals seek the truth.’
Dr Zhivago, by Boris Pasternak, 10 February, 1890 to 30 May,1960.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Ha!   Pension tax credits sound even more complicated that the Cold Weather Payment, Trevor!   (Would you be able to claim that?)

†        Could you pass my condolence to the students who’ve had the death in the family, Olga?
Hmmm …
Would mentioning snooker or pool to Little Anna, help?   The geometry aspect of it might interest a science fan.   Snooker players are supposed to very good amateur geometricians, and ballistic experts!      How about linguistics?   That’s a science … !

‡        Hello, Mum!

^        I can imagine, Debbi!   (Apparently, the Senate’s voted to continue the impeachment.)

ª        Oh, cheers, Edith!   Is part of that song in Spanish?   That might just grab Olga!   Oh, did you catch the video I tweeted at you?   I know it’s a little rough — it’s from the second of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies — but when I hear “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” I always think of the phrase’s variations: they can be interesting, sometimes.

As a last thought?

The Shaw Trust — the agency that the Job Centre has handed me to — has not had my references on time.

As such? They’re not progressing my application.

I’m gutted …

I earn too much to be on Pension Tax Credits.

The DWP is unable to process PAYE for Pensioners who have extra Pensions. The Inland Revenue gets round this problem by deduct the amount of your state Pension from the Tax Free Allowance that you are entitled to when you pay taxes through PAYE. To get the correct amount of Income Tax from me the Inland Revenue issues me with 4 different tax codes and once a year send me a form outlining how much tax I have paid on each. It also shows me my total income for the year.

The DWP does pay me two tax free payments a year. Every autumn I get the £200 winter fuel allowance. Also just before Christmas I get the Governments Pensioners Xmas bonus of £10.

I think as a Pensioner I should get all my Pensions tax free. After all I paid tax to earn those Pensions.

That's bad news about the Shaw Trust. Shouldn't they give plenty of time for references? I'll have to check on snooker, although I'm completely useless at it. (You're right about linguistics, but I doubt she'd be able to take even harder subjects on).
Do take care.

Hi, Paul Part of the song The Little Shoemaker is in Italian. I am glad you like it. Anyone may listen to it. I loved it when I was a little girl. And to tell the truth I still do.

Thank you for the clip with the Joker. It makes me feel better.
