Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 31st July 2025.

31st July, 2025.

Right … it’s officially Thursday.

And … ?

Well, theoretically, I have a day off.

At least … a day where I’ve nothing planned.

Bar watching this week’s Star Trek.

“A Space Adventure Hour” looks like it could be interesting …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Debbi‡ and Irene§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Debbi and Irene scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.

Irene messaged me her answers on WhatsApp, as she’s been having issues logging in.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five question set, shall we?

Here it is, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        31st July is the feast day of Saint Neot.   Where is the village of Saint Neot: Cornwall, Devon or Somerset?

Q2)        31st July is the feast day of Saint Neot.   Where is the village of Saint Neots: Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire or Essex?

Q3)        Actor, Michael Biehn, was born on 31st July, 1956.   He played Kyle Reese in a James Cameron movie.   Which James Cameron movie: The Terminator, Aliens or Avatar?

Q4)        Ted Cassidy was born on 31st July, 1932.   Who did he play in The Addams Family: Gomez, Lurch or Pugsley?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The city of Christchurch was chartered: on 31st July, 1856.   It’s a major city on which of New Zealand’s islands: North Island, South Island or Stewart Island?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The New Hebrides became independent on 30th July.   30th July of which year of the 1980s?
A1)        1980.

Q2)        It became independent from two colonial powers.   France … and where else?
A2)        The UK.

Q3)        Where is the New Hebrides: the South Pacific, North Pacific or North Atlantic?
A3)        The South Pacific.

Q4)        What’s the country’s current capital: Port Orly, Port Vila or Sola?
A4)        Port Vila.

Q5)        Finally … ?   What’s the country’s current name?
A5)        Vanuatu.
Here’s a thought …
“Most of my recent books have been very complex, so I just want to do something about four people in a house.”
Kim Newman, born 31 July 1959.
And a song …

The next ten question set is the Left-hander’s day quiz on 13th August.

Please mention the day to left handers you meet.

Comments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Yesterday’s second answer was ‘the UK’, Mum, rather than Great Britain.   The UK is England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales: Great Britain is the island that contains England, Scotland and Wales but not Northern Ireland!)

†        Either’s good, Olga, either’s good!

I have to admit, I’m at a loss, Debbi.   I could never work out how to spell ‘wibbly wobbly’: my on-board dictionary thinks it’s spelt ‘antidisestablishmentarianism’ …
As for Guinness?   Look, I just pour the stuff … !   I used to be able to draw shamrocks in the head.   And four-leaf clovers.   And Daleks.   And Cybermen.   And the logos for West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.   And outline maps of Australia.   People kept asking for a copy of Guernica, but the planes were tricky …
        Gosh: something’s fallen off a lorry, again … !

§        Hi, Irene: you might want to try logging out of Blogger, when you get here.   Or restarting your phone.   Or doing a tribal wardance …

Q1) 31st July is the feast day of Saint Neot. Where is the village of Saint Neot: Cornwall, Devon or Somerset? You’ve asked the same question twice, providing different answers. I suspect one of the questions was meant to be where did he live (or mention Glastonbury Abbey) and the answer would have been Somerset, while the answer to the question about the village of Saint Neots is Cornwall, but I am not sure....
