8th July, 2025.
Right … I was going to get up, early, today.
Please notice I say was.
I was due to have the visit from a couple of carpenters: who’d lower my kitchen cupboards.
Except … ?
I gat a call from my landlords, yesterday: to tell me one of them, the one with the various materials in his van, had had an accident.
So my landlords were going to have to re-book the visit.
That’s been done: re-arranged for the 29th of the month.
I’m … having mixed feelings about that.
It’s sad to hear the engineers had an accident.
It’s nice to know it was easily re-scheduled.
But it’s bloody annoying: I took everything out of the cupboards, yesterday … only to have to put it back …
Ho-hum!
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five-question set, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“I was never happily hedonistic. There’s no hedonism without a downside.”Anjelica Huston, born July 8, 1951.
And a song …
The next ten question set is on 15th July: it’s about the Northwest Territories.
Comments will be published, tomorrow morning.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello, Mum!
† I hope you got some sleep, Olga: or some rain. We’re now expecting 23ºC temperatures. If the rain gets to you, let me know!
And you’re right: some things really should be remembered … !
‡ I can still remember seeing the reports of 9/11 on the news, Debbi: and thinking to myself “If that’s a bunch of nutters in the Middle East, there’ll be hell to pay.” Lo and behold … !
The things that change the world — and that was one of them! — can be truly divisive. Brexit was another one …
OK, so the shop’s five minute’s drive away? How far is it on foot? (My nearest shop is five minutes walk away …)

Q1) Newfoundland (I watched a series set in St John’s and it looked like a pretty interesting place, full or Irish people…) This is the series (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Doyle) And Hudson & Rex, another police series (with dog and all) is also set there. My mother loves the dog, and used to watch the different versions of the series (some set in Germany and some in Italy).
Q2) Alaska
Q3) rugby union
Q4) 1996
Q5) Kojak (Wow! Kojak! That was a while back!)
We didn't get any rain despite the yellow warning. The temperature is expected to go up to 28 or so today, but it is a bit more bearable than last week. The problem is that it is very humid as well, so it feels even hotter.
What a bummer about the work you have to get done. As you say, it is a relief that everybody is well, but an inconvenience for sure. But having a firm date is good. I remember trying to schedule a feature for the radio, about a cycle of plays the local government organises, and in this case they were showing a circus spectacle (well, with only one person, but it was a circus kind of act) for the first time, and we had all kinds of trouble. Eventually I covered a different play. And it was shown, but a month later than expected (the performer ended up in hospital a few days before the play. He got better, but it was quite a scare).

From my house? Depends on how fast you walk. And how amenable you are to walking down roads without sidewalks. 15 - 20 minutes, maybe? Especially, when you're slow like me. :)
