Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th January 2026.

25th January, 2026.

Right … it’s either official … or it’s officially official.

Yes: the air fryer has turned up.

Courtesy of the Royal Mail.

I’ve not used it, as yet.

But?

Note a couple of things.

One?

It’s heavier than I expected.

Which really isn’t an issue: as it’s going to stay sat on a counter top for most of its working life.

Two … ?

It’s got a push button mechanism, for when you need to take the basket, out.

That’ll be handy.

The other thing I got?

Was equally as useful, I think.

It’s a double-ended wosname …
Wosname?

Thingy … doodah … Hoofer doofer …

Double ended USB stick!

In other words, a USB stick with a USB A connection at one end, and a USB C connection at the other.

As I’m sure you know, most smart phones have USB C ports, ports that can be used to charge the phone.

But that can also be used — through the magic of USB On-The-Go/OTG — to connect the phone to printers, monitors … oh, and double-ended USB sticks.

Why are they handy?

They’re handy because you’re always going to have something on a phone, that you need to put on a computer, more quickly than you can with bluetooth, or via the net.

Plugging a USB stick into your phone, then into a computer?

Seems a handy way of doing that*.

As a last word … ?

I forgot to get Vitamin D from Amazon.

There’s always something, isn’t there?

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum†, Olga‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        25th January is Tatiana Day.   Where: Russia, China or the USA?

Q2)        Elektra debuted on 24th January, 1909.   Who wrote Elektra: Johann Strauss the Younger, Richard Strauss or Gustav Mahler?

Q3)        The coup that deposed Milton Obote, occurred on 25th January, 1971.   Who lead that coup?

Q4)        Robert Burns is celebrated on 25th January.   What’s traditionally eaten on the night: steak, haggis or deep fried battered Mars Bars?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Ariana DeBose was born on 25th January, 1991.   She played Anita in which Steven Spielberg movie?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The first Macintosh went on sale on 24th January.   Of which year of the 1980s?
A1)        1984.

Q2)        It went on sale in which country: the USA, France, Germany or the UK?
A2)        The USA.

Q3)        The Mac was and is a what: computer, phone or TV set?
A3)        A computer.

Q4)        This first model had one hundred and twenty eight kilobytes of RAM.   In other words, one hundred and twenty eight kilobytes of what: short term memory, long term memory or processors?
A4)        Short term memory.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Which company made — and makes — the Mac: Google, Microsoft or Apple?
A5)        Apple: then called Apple Computers.
Here’s a thought …
“Don’t accept the world as it is.   Dream about what the world could be – then help make it happen.”
Peter Tatchell, born 25 January 1952.
A song by Alicia Keys, one that sees Yasiin Bey/Mos Def appear in the video …

And an earworm …

The next ten question set is on 4th February: it’s about the Aldous Huxley novel, Brave New World.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I’m very aware that only recent model iPhones and iPads come with USB C ports: that older models come with Lightning connectors.
Yes: there’s double-ended USB sticks for them, too.

†        Hello, Mum!   (RAM is short term memory, Mum, not a processor — the processor’s called the CPU.)

‡        Good luck on the weather front, Olga: I hope it’s not too bad.
I always remember you saying that the Spanish version of My Fair Lady changed “The Rain in Spain” to something about the weather in Seville.
That’s going to be handy at the end of February: there’s an Andalusia set …

§        Oh, tell me about it, Debbi!   Which is why those double-ended USB sticks are handy!
I’ll be honest: I’ve got an old fashioned dumb TV set.   Although, admittedly, it’s connected to an Apple TV 4K!
Oh, did I mention there’s a version of vlc for the Apple TV, Debbi?   That lets you stream stuff from a web browser to the TV?   That may come in handy, some day: if you don’t want to waste electricity using HandBrake.   (It’s in the App Store … )
