Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-6-2017: A Love Like Blood …

I think late nights are getting to me!

I actually had a night off, last night.

Watching the opening episodes of series one of American Horror Story.

Interesting stuff, American Horror Story: although the pilot episode wasn’t the thing the completely convinced me.

Personally?   I think I’m going to have to watch a bit more.

But the fact each series of AHS released so far has a different theme, plot and cast?

Has intrigued me.

If you’re in the UK, right now?

You’ve probably seen the news that Grenfell Tower, in North Kensington?

Has, quite literally gone up in smoke, overnight.   With at least fifty people in hospital … and talk of fatalities.

The scary thing, for me?

I work in a call centre in Chelmsfold: one that takes calls from various social landlords.

If your boiler goes wrong, your landlord’s obliged to fix it.

And, if it’s an emergency repair — you’re a vulnerable person whose heating has just gone, there’s an uncontainable leak or you’ve been locked in or out — we’re the people you’d end up talking, to get an engineer out.

One of those landlords?   Is the one that handles Grenfell Tower.

Something’s gone very wrong …

I can only hope there’s as few deaths as possible, as a result.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how every does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 14th June is World Blood Donor Day.   Human blood is what colour?
Q2) Blood is made up of blood cells, suspended in what?
Q3) Two of the three types of blood cell are coloured.   Name one of those colours.
Q4) The third type of blood cell — platelets — helps blood do what?
Q5) Human bloods colour is due — in part — to hæmoglobin.   Hæmoglobin makes blood that colour as it’s based on what: iron, copper or platinum?
Q6) Instead of hæmoglobin, some animals have hæmocyanins.   Hæmocyanin are built on what: iron, copper or platinum?
Q7) Hæmoglobin and hæmocyanin enable blood to move what through the body: oxygen, iron or the message to Garcia?
Q8) Human blood will be one of four blood groups.   Name one of those groups.
Q9) The Blood Donor is an episode of whose radio show?
Q10) Finally … Which Christian denomination won’t accept blood transfusions?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) James Boulware attacked the HQ of his city’s police: on 13th June, 2015.   Which city’s police was that?
A1) Dallas.
Q2) The last Beatles song to become US number one, did so on 13th June, 1970.   Which song was it?
Q3) The Yukon Territory was formed: on 13th June, 1898.   The then capital of Yukon was the town of Dawson.   What’s Yukon’s current capital?
Q4) Who got a ticker tape parade: on 13th June, 1927?
Q5) Finally … Charles 3rd became ruler of the Holy Roman Empire.   He was also known as Charles the what: Fat, Bald or Great?
A5) Fat.
Here’s a depressing song …

And an equally miserable quote …
“So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.”
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        You’d be surprised how many devices you end up with, Olga: I’ve not got a Smart TV, but DO have an AppleTV, and a HD set top box that lets me record hi-def stuff.   Hmmm … Have you thought about turning the floppy discs into coffee mats?   Or teacup sized ones, at any rate!?   (Data recovery from a floppy?   I don’t envy you THAT!!)

†        Isn’t it just, Debbi?   That tower block’s one of the ones my company handles!   I just hope not too many are killed.   (Oh, I saw this: you might want to keep your eyes peeled, JUST in case … !)

I'm trying to set up a course (I'm going to be teaching on-line at the University of the People) but had to comment when I saw you mention the fire. I hadn't heard here (mind you, I haven't watched the news). Terrible. It sounds as if the people were already worried. As my mother was saying when I told her, London doesn't seem to catch a break these days.
I had thought about the coaster option...
