Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th October, 2018.

12th October, 2018.

Right …

I’ve got to be quick, today: as I’ve got a dentist appointment, today.

But …

I get a mention in this weeks Brentwood Gazette.

Basically?

Because my street, Rollason Way, is to be adopted by Essex County Council.

In other words?

Essex County Council will be responsible for enforcing any on-street parking controls.

Rather than original developers, Crest Nicholson.

I’m grateful: assuming this leads to less on-street congestion … and freer access for emergency vehicles.

That’s been a bugaboo of mine for a good few years.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Suicide bombers attacked the USS Cole on 12th October.   12th October of which year?
Q2) 12th October, 1953, saw the birth of actor, David Threlfall.   In which series does he play Frank Gallagher?
Q3) 12th October, 1960, saw who bang his shoe on a table at a UN meeting?
Q4) 12th October, 1866, saw the birth of Ramsey McDonald, the UK’s first Labour Prime Minister.   He first became PM in which year?
Q5) Finally … ?   12th October, 1968, saw the birth of Hugh Jackman.   Which X-Men character does he play?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 11th October is the Feast day of Saint Æthelburh of where?
A1) Barking.
Q2) It also marks the feast of Saint Lommán of Trim.   Where’s Trim: England, Scotland, Northern Ireland of the Republic of Ireland?
A2) The Republic.
Q3) The Gang of Four were arrested on 11th October, 1976.   After attempting a coup … where?
A3) China.
Q4) 11th October saw the start of the Second Boer War: between the UK, and the boers of the Transvaal and Orange Free State.   11th October, of which year?
A4) 1899.
Q5) Finally … 11th October, 1138, saw an earthquake hit which Syrian city?
A5) Aleppo.
Here’s a thought …
“The True Will is thus both determined by its equations, and free because those equation are simply its own name, spelt out fully.”
Aleistair Crowley; 12 October 1875 – 1 December 1947.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Now why does that sound familiar, Olga?   I think think a lot of software designers could do with lessons in usability, and consistency!   Oh, possibly just intuitive.   As for Barking … ?   There’s an old joke that would appeal to my nephew.   Where do dogs go for their holidays?   Barking …    If you’re crazy about a London Borough that starts with B?   You’re Barking mad … I’m here all week …

†        Actually, Debbi, did I mention Good Omens?   The trailer looks good … (Apparently, Sir Terry had THAT scene — Agnes Nutter’s last — planned for Granny Weatherwax†.)

‡        Nutter is an old Lancashire name.   There’s also a few Weatherwaxes in the New York phone book
