The Daily Teaser …

Well, it’s official: the BBC have started the advertising for the Dr Who Christmas special.

You can usually tell it’s getting nearer.

Usually when the broadsheets start doing little articlettes about it.

Which makes for interesting reading.

Or could, if it really wanted to …

Lets get moving on, shall we … ?

Yes, lets … !

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Trevor and Kaiju — bless ’em both — putting in their answers. With both scoring 5 out of 5, it also saw Trevor quoting Emily Carr, and Kaiju being very surprised that Richard D. Zanuck lived in LA.

In an ironic way, I should point out … !

Lets see how they — and you — do with today’s questions: here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video

Q5) And finally … 13th December, 1960, saw who — temporarily — deposed, whilst on a visit to Brazil … ?
A5) Haile Selassie 1st of Ethiopia.

“Now it is quite clear to me that there are no solid spheres in the heavens, and those that have been devised by the authors to save the appearances, exist only in the imagination.”

“I conclude, therefore, that this star is not some kind of comet or a fiery meteor. . . but that it is a star shining in the firmament itself one that has never previously been seen before our time, in any age since the beginning of the world.”

“When, according to habit, I was contemplating the stars in a clear sky, I noticed a new and unusual star, surpassing the other stars in brilliancy . . . . There had never before been any star in that place in the sky.”

Quotes by Tycho Brahe (Danish Astronomer) born 14th December 1546. He saw the 1572 supernova. And wrote “De nova stella” which gave us the words supernova and nova.
