Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th April, 2023.

17th April, 2023.

Right … I’m up early, today.

And, normally?

I’d be phoning the Job Centre to find out what’s happening with my benefits.

Oh, the rent increase has gone through, so you know: the new service charges are frightening*!

At any rate … ?

I’m not, at the moment.

I’m up early, so I can get to my weight management class: that’s open for just a few short hours.

I’m looking forward to it.

But won’t know how it’s gone, until I get back.

We’ll have to see, won’t we?

~≈Ç≈~

Did I mention I’ve got a song on, in the background?

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band’s version of Delilah.

The singer died too soon!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw saw Olga†, Mum‡ and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q2)        17th April, 2014, saw the Kepler Space Telescope confirm there was an Earth sized planet orbiting a star.   The star in question, Kepler 186, is a what: White Dwarf, Red Dwarf, Green Giant or Black Hole … ?

Q5)        Finally … ?   17th April, 1951, saw the Peak District as the UK’s first what: National Park, Site of Special Scientific Interest or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Here’s a thought …
“House, rap, R&B, disco rock, they are all part of hip-hop culture.”
Afrika Bambaataa, born 17th April, 1957.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        The total rent has gone up from £484.55 a month to £675.44 per month: £194 of the latter figure is the service charge, compared to £35 of the previous total.   It’s roughly £160 more.   What are Clarion spending it on … ?   It’s not going on the buildings!

I will, Olga.   And Tesco are right, it does.   Why no-one mentioned that to my landlords, I don’t know.   (The actual rent increase isn’t much.   It’s the service charge that’s the killer, this year!)

Hello, Mum!   (I don’t know if it would’ve interested Granddad or Uncle Brian, but apparently, Alex Harvey was a freemason.)

^        :D   I thought it might appeal, Debbi!   :D

Q1) The USA (I’ve visited it. It’s a fascinating place).

Q2) Red Dwarf

Q3) Beirut

Q4) Edinburgh

Q5) National Park (I’ve been enough times and never realised that. I thought it was the Lakes...)
My Goodness! That's a jump in fees! Does it include electricity or gas? I know they'd commented on the problems some buildings were having where because there was a gas or electricity meter for the whole building and it was included in the rates, it worked out much more expensive and also they couldn't change to some of the more advantageous tariffs because they were only available to individuals. They've made some changes and adjustments to allow for that, but it is a problem. From what you've said sometimes, I don't think that's the case, and from your comments about the difficulties in the building and others, you're right. It doesn't sound as if they're spending the money on improvements. Perhaps they've had to pay some compensations to some of their clients?
I hope the meeting goes well and you have good news soon. (Here they've come up with a new law on housing. We shall see.
