The Daily Teaser — 22-9-2015

Hmmm … 

You know I like a film, occasionally, don’t you?

And that, when I watch them, I tend to write about them?

Well, I caught one, last night: the 2014 feature, Hellmouth.

Interesting looking little film, Hellmouth: with a nice job of work done Stephen McHattie in the lead role.

But, my WORD … !

It could have done with having one plot-line all the way through!

*          You know, Olga, it always amazes me how rapidly things change.   When I was a teenager?   The ZX Spectrum was the UK’s most popular home computer, and the UK had three TV stations.   Now I’m in my forties?   My old phone‡ is more powerful than a Spectrum, and there’s TV stations coming out of the woodwork!   (The Emmys were held recently.   From what I could gather, it’s the first time internet based services had tons of entries, and were walking away with the big awards.)

†        Why thank you, Debbi!   But I’m not a tech wizard: I just know how to use handy software!   (The real wizard … ?   Was whoever worked out how to rip optical discs in the first place.   Eric Petit’s the chap who invented HandBrake: although he’s not been heard from for about nine years.   Now I’ve said that to you and Olga, Debbi: why do I get the feeling I’ve hit the “There’s a Story” button?)

‡        My old phone is the one I no longer use: it’s dead, and sitting on top of my microwave.   It’s still a lot better, technically, than a ZX Spectrum.

Indeed your comment was very intriguing. And I've thought about the old computers as well, although I didn't acquire one until the late 1990s. I remember how long it took to load a very simple game in the old computers. And connecting to internet...
