Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 31-8-2019: Caligula

31st August, 2019.

Hmmm …

Sometimes, turning the news on, first thing in the morning.

I got up.   I turned on Radio Four’s Today programme.

And found that Sonia Khan, Special Advisor to Chancellor Sajid Javid, has been sacked from her post …

And led out by police.

Leading to a row between the Chancellor, and Boris Johnson*.

It’s sounds like there’s issues in Downing Street.

I’ve also got to admit, I’m on Quora: the question answering website.

It’s actually fun … believe it or not.

Most of the questions asked?

Are usually sensible.

But, boy …

Some of the questions seem a little … naïve.

“What do British people eat,” always stands out … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi† putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 31st August, AD12, saw the birth of Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus: also known as Caligula.   Caligula means little … what?
Q2) Who was Caligula’s predecessor as Roman Emperor?
Q3) Caligula started his reign, in which year: AD37, AD39 or AD41?
Q4) According to legend, Caligula planned to make his favourite horse a consul.   What was that horses name?
Q5) Finally … ?   Caligula was finally assassinated by a group led by the head of the Praetorian Guard.   Who was that head?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 30th August is the International Day of the Disappeared.   If you’ve been disappeared, you’ve been secretly imprisoned by whom: the government, criminal gangs or aliens invaders?
A1) The Government: or political parties/bodies acting for them.
Q2) HMS Pandora sank on 30th August, 1791: after hitting what, the day before?
Q3) 30th August, 1919, saw the birth of Ellen Muriel Deason: better known as which country singer?
Q4) 30th August, 1835, saw the founding of the Australian city of Melbourne.   The city’s in which Australian state?
A4) Victoria.
Q5) Finally … ?   Samuel Whitbread was born on 30th August, 1720.   The MP was also famous as what?
A5) A brewer.   (Indeed, the brewery he founded is still in operation, and now the owners of the Premier Inn chain of hotels.   One of those is around the corner from me.)
Here’s a thought …
“Would that the Roman people had but one neck!”
Caligula.
And a video …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I’ve been trying to avoid calling Boris Johnson, Prime Minister.   He’s not earned the post as a result of a general election.

†        Why thank you, Debbi!   Nice to know I’m getting a few views for them!   As for Hugh … ?   Some of some of Radio Four’s presenters are keeping a polite distance from that Tweet … !   You wouldn’t think a rubber duck could cause problems!   😀.  🐥
