Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-8-2019: We’re Outta Here … !

6th August, 2019.

Yes: I’ve finally managed to get the job.

After a lot of swearing, emailing, phoning, emailing, more phoning … and stuff.

The company I’ve been hired by has finally accepted my adoption papers.

After much consultation with the area manager, and Human Resources.

I start Thursday.

~≈§≈~

That’s counter balanced by the reason I’m up early.

Frankly?

It’s my uncle’s funeral, today.

It’s going to be a long day, I think …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mr Strict*, Badwolf†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Mr S and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Anne on nine..

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 6th August, 1996, saw the Ramones play their farewell gig.   In which Californian city?
Q2) Name any one of the members who played at that last gig.
Q3) Name any one of the original Ramones lineup.
Q4) The band’s last surviving member died in 2014.   Who WAS he?
Q5) What was the band’s biggest UK hit?
Q6) That hit came from the band’s 1980 album, End of the Century.   Who produced End of the Century?
Q7) What was the name of the Ramones first studio LP?
Q8) Released in 1995, their last album was called … what?
Q9) Elvis Ramone was the band’s stand in drummer: for two shows in 1987.   The rare surviving Ramone is better known as Clem Burke: and from which band?
Q10) Finally?   1993 saw the band appear in Rosebud: an episode of which show?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 5th August, 1906, saw the birth of John Huston.   The first film he directed was a version of which Dashiell Hammett novel?
Q2) More to the point, who did Huston persuade to play Sam Spade, the film’s main character?
Q3) Huston’s The Asphalt Jungle saw who appear in the minor role of Angela Phinlay?
A3) Marilyn Monroe.   (Marilyn herself?   Died on 5th August: albeit, many years later.)
Q4) That actress also appeared in Huston’s The Misfits.   Who played Gay Langland, in The Misfits?
A4) Clark Gable.
Q5) Huston moved to Ireland: as a result his disgust at the House Committee on Un-American Activities.   In which year of the 1950s?
A5) 1952.
Q6) Whilst in Ireland?   Huston worked on which James Bond film?
A6) The 1967 version of Casino Royale.
Q7) Huston directed the 1975 film, The Man Who Would be King.   The film starred Michael Caine opposite which former Bond?
Q8) Huston acted as well as directed.   Who did he voice in the animated, 1977, version of The Hobbit?
A8) Gandalf.
Q9) Who co-wrote the Huston version of Moby Dick?
A9) Noted SF writer, Ray Bradbury.   (Apparently?   The pair didn’t on …)
Q10) Finally … ?   Huston’s last film, The Dead, was based on a novel by who?
A10) James Joyce.
Here’s a thought …
“There’s nobody as good as the Ramones, never will be.”
Joey Ramone, May 19th, 1951 — April 15th, 2001.
And a playlist …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I’ve moved the, , Mr S: but you put them, here, by mistake!   It’s a good movie, though!

†        You know, it actually feels a bit chilly, ’round here, Anne.   Mind you, it’s early, yet!

‡        Play fair, though, Debbi, I know how much of a Huston fan you are!   😀   Now … how are we with obscure bands from New York’s other finest … ?   Gabba Gabba Hey … !
