Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28-8-2019: Le Fanu.

28th August, 2019

Right … it’s officially a day off …

And one where I’m going to be doing a lot of filming: working making the video Teasers around work.

Thankfully?

At least one of those activities means sitting down for a while …

Just as a quick thought … ?

Apparently, the BBC is planning a digital voice assistant.

Hmm …

I have to admit, I’ thinking that might be a waste of time: at least on my AppleTV.

Frankly?   The Siri button default’s to using Siri …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Anne scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 28th August saw the birth of novelist, Sheridan Le Fanu.   In which year?
Q2) In which Irish city?
Q3) Which ‘C’ was Le Fanu’s best known vampire novel?
Q4) The Ruthyn family feature in which of Le Fanu’s novels?
Q5) Finally … ?   Green Tea, Mr Justice Harbottle and The Familiar all appear in Le Fanu’s best known short story collection.   What short story collection?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) C. S. Forrester was born: on 27th 1899.   The novelist’s best known creation was a fictional Royal Navy officer called Horatio … what?
Q2) Nine years earlier?   27th August, 1890, saw the birth of which photographer/artist?
A2) Man Ray.
Q3) 27th August is — in the US — National Banana Lovers Day.   Bananas used for cooking are usually called what?
A3) Plantains.
Q4) 27th August is Film and Movies Day in Russia.   Whiat’s the English language title of the Russian film, Ночной Дозор (Nochnoy Dozor)?
A4) Night Watch.
Q5) Finally … ?   27th August is the feast day of Saint Margaret the Barefooted.   Margaret’s the patron saint of whom: abuse victims, epileptics or brewers?
Here’s a quote …
“The earth hath bubbles as the water hath — And these are of them.”
Opening lines of The Fortunes of Sir Robert Ardagh, by Sheridan Le Fanu.
And a novel: Green Tea, to be exact …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Handy thing to know, Anne: I’ll have to have a look, to see if that’s on the AppleTV.   Homemade!   Like it!   (I don’t know if the Green Tea video will appeal: it’s the audio book version of the story.   But Le Fanu had a rep for horror)

†        Figured it would appeal, Debbi!   Oh, the other label obviously got over the wall …

Hello, paul I will be doing quiz tomorrow, but not back online till Sunday after that, Im going over to moms to have time with her before I have a meltdown. Had a right carry on with my telephone and broadband provider to the point I have changed, so angry as I've been paying customer with them for over 10 years. Also after my water after leak a few months ago, Mom had an argument with them as even though leak wasn't my fault, toilet pipes burst, I am responsible for charges of that the excessive leak, as my landlord is useless in taken responsibility and I need just a getaway lol (the is past 24hours)
my Id on twitter is @deadtravelfast1 as changed it.
