15th March, 2025: David Cronenberg.
I have to say, I had a nice day, yesterday: company, light shopping, what have you.
This morning … ?
I’ve woken up to two things going off.
One?
I had to retune the TV.
Occasionally, it loses the BBC channels, and needs to be manually re-tuned.
That got me swearing.
On top of that … ?
The boiler pressure dropped to zero: which meant not heating or hot water.
Thankfully, the engineer who fixed the boiler the last time this happened had shown me what to do.
So I could correct that, as well.
But … ?
I can’t help but think the over night temperature had something to do with the boiler pressure.
And I did a lot of cursing, this morning.
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, Irene on nine, and Mum on eight.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“I know that many artists feel that they are frauds - that’s part of the pleasure of creativity.”David Cronenberg.
And a movie clip: from Nightbreed …
The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello Mum!
† I think I might just have to sit down with The Italian Job, Olga: it’s been years since I’ve seen it.
I’ve got a nasty feeling that taking over NHS England has little to do with providing services, Olga. I suspect it — and the proposed benefits changes — are to fund aid to Ukraine, and the associated defence spending: rather than boost services or encouraging people back to work. I can understand why the government’s doing it: but that doesn’t mean I approve …
“And God created Organisation” … ? 🤣
‡ I’m glad you enjoyed it, Irene. The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: although I don’t know if the theme — 2001: A Space Odyssey — will appeal. (Remind me to mention Madstock, at some point.)
§ I was sorely tempted to do a ten question set about David Cronenberg, Debbi: his career’s as varied as Caine’s. But I thought “No: I’ll get a funny look!”
Did I ever mention Madstock, Debbi? The series of live gigs they played? Apparently, at least one song at the 1992 gig, “One Step Beyond”, registered on the Richter scale …

Thaty’s a thought, Debbi: I thought this would interest you …

A fantastic video. The expense on defense is a bit worry all around. Here the government has also said they will increase it, although they haven't explained how, and no other party (not even the ones they are governing with) have given them support, so...
I hope your day gets better. Mine started badly as well, as you can read below.
Q1) 1943
Q2) Toronto
Q3) 1970
Q4) Viggo Mortensen (He lived lots of years in Argentina, speaks perfect Spanish, and his partner now is Ariadna Gil, a very well known, and good, actress from Barcelona).
Q5) Jeff Goldblum. Unforgettable. He’s always played pretty weird characters, but it is not surprising with his looks.
If it is any consolation, Paul, I was trying to clean a little plastic cover/roof we have in the patio, installed by my father many years back (because we hang our clothes in the patio, because we live on the first floor and there is an internal patio. The rest hang them on the internal balconies that face the same patio, and that means the water falls down on our patio, so my father put a cover so we don’t get wet when we go out, and also so that the washing machine, that we have outside, doesn’t get wet), but the floor is pretty irregular, because my father also decided to install some of the spare bathroom tiles on the floor (and yes, that makes it pretty slippery and not all flat). So, the stepladder I was using tumbled, and I with it. I fell, taking part of the structure down (not the main part of it, but a sort of plastic water he’d also installed on the edge of it), the stepladder folded on me, another ladder fell on me, and I hit my head on the wall. So, now I have a big bump on my head, a long scratch on the back of my upper thigh and bum, and the thing isn’t looking too good. So, hey, the morning could always have been worse. (I guess I could have brained myself, but, the funny thing is that despite all the noise, my mother didn’t hear me, and it seems none of the neighbours did either, because nobody looked out).
On the other hand, I’ve added a couple of videos to the Ocells channel. This is the first one, but there is another one as well.

Funny you should think that. I was just thinking of checking out another Pratchett book.
I need the laughs. :) I need that Pratchett sense of irony. His brilliance! His Pratchettness. :)
